I was in CompUSA just last week and there sure didn't seem to be any shortage of HDs there, nor have prices changed any direction but down at Tiger Direct... :(

Hi,Would of been nice if Larry contacted all of his customers via email and verified that everyone got what they paid for, this should of been done before closing up shop since the mode of delivery was via multi-user mailings. I wonder how many other users didn't get what they paid for.

They're well stocked. You'll see climbing prices before production catches up.

While I never have purchased anything from SimSavvy It saddens me to see a Developer leave our small, tight, close community. Wish him all the best.

Article in "Custom PC", issue 102, magazine in the UK states that HDD prices have risen by around 300% over recent months. Also next year the likes of WD & Seagate are cutting warranty periods from 5 years to 3 years. To one and two years for some "brands".

Before October you could buy a 2TB internal hard drive for $69. I bought one in July for that price. Take a look at what a 2TB hard drive will cost you nowadays. The cheapest one I spotted at TigerDirect was $130 so I wouldn't say that prices have come down! Sorry Michael. I did e-mail everyone several times and I assured them the upgrades would continue as promised. The third batch is not back yet. I'ts been about a month and I've contacted you about it's whereabouts. It should have been to you a couple weeks ago from James in New Jersey. This is my typical upgrade challenge. Why didn't I hear bach from you there but heard back about the forum the next day? I don't know and I'm not placing blame.Things have just not worked out. What everyone is missing is that there is no longer enough profit to support the product.I tried and did make another product for X-Plane. I received no response whatsoever in five days time with a news release. It's over for me but the photoreal community lives on and adapts. Thank you Michael for hosting the forum. I will see that you get your upgrade soon.Sim Savvy

Get rid of those "clunky" spinning disk drives and reach out and touch a solid state drive. Tiger Direct sells an OCZ Vertex 3 SSD for $120. Or, you can throw caution to the wind and get a 480Gb drive for less than $1,000. I have the 480Gb drive and all of my FSX files fit on the drive with a lot of storage left over. This drive has a 6Gb/sec SATA interface. Newer mobo's support this interface (such as ASUS). Read speed is up to 530Mb/sec.FSX hums on this drive - no hesitation at all.fb

I noticed that 4 or 5 people on this forum mentioned that they had 'planned' on getting Sim-Savvy. That may be some of the problem. No doubt, there were lots of people that thought about it, or had it on a wish list but didn't order it. Now that it appears to be over, there is some regret. So, hopefully, there is still a market for the scenery. Perhaps someone with the equipment could pick up where Larry left off and continue it, with Larry's permission and blessing, of course. Sim-Savvy is a very complicated program is not for your everyday gamer. It really is ideal for pilots, or pilots in training. So, the market is limited in number already. So, a different approach may be in order--flash drives for the desired states, for example. Through all of this however, please put yourself in Larry's position. He invented something that most of us thought could never happen. He opened up a whole new world of simulator flying. What a thrill when we opened it and flew over our house! We should be forever grateful to Larry for getting this 'off the ground'. His postings here indicate that he wants people to get what they paid for. The logistics right now are difficult, but I am confident that Larry will make good to those who have already paid him. Please be patient and work with him. He's hurting right now and needs our support. Rick

I know from experience that Larry is a good guy. I hope that after things settle, he will consider selling SimSavvy scenery on a state-by-state basis.

Hi Larry,The second to last reply was in regards to the drive (second update) that I mailed to the next person on the list, as a matter of fact, I asked you for their address prior to mailing the drive. This second update I received was on a Friday, I mailed the drive back out that following Monday. The drive was in my possession for three days. The last email received was in regards to spam that was on the forum that was taken care of, in that email I also talked about mailing you my hard drive with return postage included. This was a day or two before the web site was taken down. You thanked me for removing the spam, but did not mention the update nor supply me with your address, I wanted to send the drive with return postage paid (in advance) so you'll incur no out of pocket expense. Not sure where I am on the list for the third update, but the drive never arrived at my location. The Third update was never mailed to me.I'm sorry things didn't work out, I think its a great product. I think most of the individuals that wanted the product couldn't afford it, but that's just a guess on my part. I hope Sim Savvvy returns to the Flight sim community in the not to distant future and I look forward to getting all of the 50CM updates. Thanks Larry

For some reason the forum editor seems to randomly select one of the display options every time I reply to a post. Just look on the toolbar and click on the one selected (such as B for bold) to turn if back to normal text...
