March 2, 201214 yr Being a "lighting fanatic" I'm enormously pleased that at long last, landing and taxi lights actually ILLUMINATE any object on which they fall, even in the daytime! The vc cockpit lighting is phenomenal as well. I'm still trying to figure out how it was done so I can duplicate that in FSX... :LMAO:Well, it is the same effect on the PMDG NGX, the Lotus L39, and Aerosoft AirbusX... Carenado has got it working on their Malibu P46T as well...A Andrew Entwistle
March 2, 201214 yr My biggest gripe with the graphics is the low resolution of the ground textures. There's a lot to like but I don't get why they chose to go so low res in 2012. The city textures look lower resolution then what I have in FSX
March 2, 201214 yr Others have already answered how - but this is one of the great things about Flight! I landed on Ford Island and walked over to (yes, including walking on water) the Arizona Memorial. Couldn't get up the docking ramp and inside, but was able to walk around it. Received an aerocache award - but the best part was, having been there many times, how "right" it felt. Also, Stephen, I want to say "thank you" to you and several others for your positive, meaningful, and well thought out posts before the forum closure. Flight is definitely not "all it can be" yet, but it's a blast to fly and it has great potential!Hey, thank you very much. I saw what looked a serious simulation release, not as a fan (there will be millions of those), nor as a intransigent traditionalist (there are thousands of those), but as an informed hobbyist. The potential is huge.I appreciate your comment a whole lot, as it seemed really lonely there for awhile.Kind regards,
March 2, 201214 yr I've myself never had BSOD, as for popping autogen can you please send me a link where I can fix that in FSX...can you also show me a rig running FSX at max settings with Orbx scenery.... stutterings free....please....of course you can run FSX pretty good at low settings...what's the point, why buying good scenery if you don't max out. Here is a vid I made showing what you can do with FSX in DX10, Orbx scenery, all maxed out but car traffic at 22%, that include all the FPS killers like bloom +++Do not argue about what you can do with FSX, just make a vid and show us. I have no idea who you are and I'm not inclined to waste any of my time proving anything to you. I run FSX with several addons (PMDG NGX is my primary aircraft of choice) and it looks great and runs great. I built the system myself and followed the advice that is easily attainable on the forums and elsewhere on the web as far as software setup goes. Since people are reporting things like blurres with Flight, I'm not even sure there is a discussion to be had on the performance issues. Sounds like with either FSX or Flight it all comes down to your individual setup and config.

Sounds like with either FSX or Flight it all comes down to your individual setup and config.Well, I also used to say that FSX runs great on my PC (after about 5 years of tweaking and upgrading hardware) but compared to MS Flight...? Let's just talk about ground shadows and waterreflections. If I enable waterreflections in FSX and shadows (which are awful in FSX), performance would drop severely. To something like 'not playable'.I can run FSX very well on my PC but 1. MS Flight has a LOT more 'eye candy' and 2. a totally smooth performance with high fps. There are more people that don't like MS Flight and say they can get similar performance in FSX. Well, that's impossible if you are using comparable graphic settings. FSX can't touch MS Flight in that regard.Besides...you said you followed the advice from the internet: with MS Flight you don't have to follow any advice. Simply install and have fun. That's quite important if you want to get new users for your sim. Edited March 2, 201214 yr by J van E

March 3, 201214 yr Sadly, I have no fish left. The Heron (bird) came over yesterday and stole the last two. No kippers for me for breakfast, looks like I will be on the porridge too ! March 3, 201214 yr Really? You have all those problems with FSX? Wow. Check the forums and you can get that fixed.I see no point in trying flight. Waste of time and hard drive space IMHO.This is why I love Fight. IT WORKS! without all that faffing around Steve Smith i7-2600K - GTX580 - 8GB ram
March 3, 201214 yr I'm truly disappointed in MS with the release of Flight. To me it's not a matter of is Flight better than FSX, but more about customer support. FSX still has a lot of bugs and a lot of unknowns and MS is not addressing them at all...that's what upsets me the most.Next, we that have supported, slaved and agonized over our PC because FSX just wouldn't run right and we upgraded and upgraded and tweaked night after night until we got it just right. MS is totally disregarding our effort. What about all the add-ons we bought? Again, MS is totally disregarding our purchases. So, personally for me I really do not care if Flight is or is not better than FSX, it's the principle of good customer service and loyalty. We defended FSX over X-plane and this is the thanks we get.Hey, MS how about for those of us that have a licensed copy of FSX we get the full version of Flight half off, once,it's close to FSXOn a personal note I bought FSX in 2006 because of a tv commercial, never thought about flying until I saw that commercial. Had a basic PC at the time, did all the missions and all the lessons. Today I'm a real world VFR pilot thanks to FSX.I'm sure there are lots of us that have this same story. So, for MS to say they want to reach more peopleand not simmers, I don't by that at all.-RayOf course IMHO
March 3, 201214 yr Moderator Well, it is the same effect on the PMDG NGX, the Lotus L39, and Aerosoft AirbusX... Carenado has got it working on their Malibu P46T as well...Sorry, but it is not. I've used the same lighting technique in all of my models since the L-39 first appeared. While close, they do not illuminate the other scenery objects in the scene, such as the hangar directly in front of your a/c. In flight, the landing/taxi lights illuminate everything, including the dynamic trees. The new lighting appears just as if there was a real light shining its beam. Fr. March 3, 201214 yr Commercial Member I'm truly disappointed in MS with the release of Flight. To me it's not a matter of is Flight better than FSX,but more about customer support.FSX still has a lot of bugs and a lot of unknowns and MS is not addressing them at all...that's what upsets me the most.If you dont like what happened to FSX, then support Flight. Why? Its really easy. FSX continued in the grand past tradition of "dump and run" programming. Make a game, release it, then move onto the next game with very little support. Flight is the opposite of that tradition. MS WONT dump and run. They simply cant! They NEED to continue to develop and support Flight, or it wont make money. There is NO WAY Microsoft can recover the development cost of Flight by just selling Hawaii and 2 aircraft. So in order to make a return on there investment, they need to ADD to the game, and IMPROVE on it to keep customer base high and a continued source of revenue. If they walk away, MS looses a LOT of money.Thats why I say its important to talk about the aspects of Flight that you dont like. The Dev's are watching, and if you truly think they can sell more copy's of Flight by paying attention to YOUR advice, let them know. They are interested in knowing!!!If Flight gains a good userbase, it will be around for years and will morph into something truly amazing. Kevin Miller 3D Artist and developer
March 3, 201214 yr I like the fact you can actually walk around. FSX has always had difficulties with that capability.Best regards,JimLate, I know. How about BOB from ORBX?
