New P3D licensing / PMDG strategy

Featured Replies

Hello guys,I wanted to put this out in the open. I read the thread from Robert about P3D and professional licensing. As of today, P3D is offering a private license for academic use. Home use. 50$.Is PMDG going to rethink their strategy and possibly put a licensing up for the product to be able to use in P3D, in other words, are you going to support P3D with this new licensing scheme?

That should change all the toughts about P3D. It looks like an backward compatible regulary updated FSX version, with lot's of new features and open for other developers for 50 bucks. I think that could grow to something bigger!I think it would be very nice if PMDG would rethink their strategy, as Word Not Allowed said!

The EULA still has that restriction clause though Word Not Allowed

and only for purposes other than personal/consumer entertainment
Which still leaves things as they were IMODave

On the product website it means for home use. I think they won't sell such a product if they aren't allowed to. They aren't that stupid to break the laws. I think the guys from Lockheed Martin know what they do.

HelloSome folk will never be happy with P3D's licensing.Unless Lockheed come round to their house, install it for them, then slap a "fully licenced" sticker on their forehead they will always find a reason to not try it.Glyn

If PMDG release a fully compatible NGX for Prepar3D then I will consider buying P3D.

Nothing says you have to be, it's as simple as that.

Oh Fabo, then don't buy it if you don't want to. I will buy it in the next days, when I am at home again. 50$ for an constantly updated FSX is a fair price.

Erm... no it does not.The Eligibility statement does not state: License can only be purchased by students actively enrolled in a university. It does state: Academic licensing can be purchased for educational efforts at or below the undergraduate level. Why on God's Green Earth do folks want to seem to turn people off of a constantly updated platform that listens to the userbase and is easily made compatible with FSX Addons via the free SDK?!?

Greatest statement that I have read on this forum in months.... :(

And why on earth do p3d fanbois always assume anyone who states facts, hell, even people who just quote PMDG, is trying to turn people away from p3d?I am not saying 50 bucks is not a fair price, I might even buy the damn thing, but the fact is, most of you with developer licenses are just exposing a loophole, and the fact remains, p3d is not in retail game distribution framework. Some of you should just accept it.
