August 14, 201213 yr Commercial Member Tim meant to say that weather download and interpolation process times have been REDUCED by 80% with Service Pack 1. Just to clear up: REX Essential Service Pack 1 - is in beta testing and will be released very soon, this will replace current versions of REX Essential. REX Essential + Overdrive - will be completed after REX Essential SP1 is released. We do not expect a long beta testing process for this, but since REX Essential is the core this had to be updated first. If you have any questions or need help with REX Essential please refer your questions to our forum or to us directly at: [email protected] Reed StoughManaging PartnerREX SIMULATIONS website: www.rexsimulations.comsupport: www.rexaxis.com
August 15, 201213 yr I think the hdev2 freeware package beats both Rex and as2012 hands down for cloud and sky textures. www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?35013-HDE-High-Definition-Environment-V2-0 For all other textures I prefer rex-e. AJ Pongress

The weather download and interpolation process is to damn slow, sometimes it takes up to 20 minutes and I'm sick and tired of this. Im considering to go back to REX2 if this update Isn't out soon.
August 27, 201213 yr Just another word of encourage: I really like Essentials weather & atmospherics. I see weather that is very believable that I have never seen in former versions of REX nor ASX. Great job and I look forward to improving on load times etc. Noel Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. August 30, 201213 yr ...I can't see how to load a .PLN into it though, so that's not great..Perhaps I'm missing something R'ingTFM now  Just open the REXe Flight Center, select Communty Flight Plans. click the Import button and that will open your computer files to load your .PLN file. Easy!

We have posted several suggestions on how to increase performance until SP1 is released. We have been actively working hard on SP1. It not only includes fixes, but we have decided to add some additional features that will help with performance and add more depth to the product and your flight. We will be issuing another beta to the testers in the next week or so, this should be the final beta or at least the second to last. Again thank you for your patience. August 31, 201213 yr ActiveSky2012 an REXE are great ... But i would have to say i would stay with REXE  . I mean i don't know much about activesky2012 but from all i can see its great with fogy layers very realistic . But as for REXE i love it i mean REXE can have its problem every now an then ,but hey come on its a big add on for fsx an let not even talk about Overdrive the minute that comes out REXE everyone its going to want to try it . As for the clouds REXE is awesome you just have to have the correct setting that best suit your Sim. Hahaha REXE is so great that i name a dog i adopted from the shelter an i decided to name him REX lol. Soon i will post a picture of REX  Tim an everyone at REX nice work an keep it up. August 31, 201213 yr I'm really fed up with the Rex loading time and sometimes the weather doesn't even load into FSX. I think I'll stick with textures with REX essentials for now, and will give that new FSX Opus weather program a go. Soarbywire - Avionics Engineering

Since you havnt mentioned your loading time and did you install rexe as admin and run rexe as admin rights, and have you set your fsx weather change to zero in your settings. The min times for loading the rexe is around 5 minutes or so some one has got it down to 39 seconds if you want to check in the rexe forum he put up a video and the settings he used to achive it I7-8700k,Corsair h1101 cooler ,Asus Strix Gaming Intel Z370 S11 motherboard, Corsair 32gb ramDD4,, gtx 1080ti Card, RM850 power supply Peter kelberg

August 31, 201213 yr Pretty much on the same subject, anyone knows if the new REX Essentials work together with Aivlasoft's EFB in the same way you can have AS2012 "connected" to EFB? Yes, EFB has option to connect directly to REXe weather engine including winds aloft just the same as connection to AS2012. By the way, what's up with FSBuild? It seems really old and outdated with no mention of FSX, REX, or AS2012. It seems that EFB is a much better flight planner, weather interface, charts/charting with moving map, TACS, and ground taxi guide, all-in-one product.
August 31, 201213 yr I'm really fed up with the Rex loading time and sometimes the weather doesn't even load into FSX. I think I'll stick with textures with REX essentials for now, and will give that new FSX Opus weather program a go. It is what it is, and I would agree it's a poor design. However once you understand how to make it work properly it always loads weather, but as is said it does take a while. Here's what I do to achieve predictable loading: Assuming your PC is completely booted up, I then start REX-E You MUST wait until all initialization is complete, including weather interpolation (even though you can fly now before interpolation completes I find it's best to wait it out). Go make a cup of coffee, etc! Now start FSX. Choose your flight, but don't yet hit the Fly Now button. This means you have your departure location establish and the plane has been moved there. Now click REX-E's Fly Now option. The weather generator screen will pop up quickly. Now hit the Load Weather button (may not be necessary, but it's what I do!). Now you can minimize REX-E. Now hit FSX's FLY button to initialize your flight. With this steps I find the weather always loads right then and there--Weather Injection is just completing as you show up in the cockpit at your departure airport. It's a messy way to do this but it does work. I understand they have improved the time-to-fly by maybe 80% or something like that. August 31, 201213 yr Just to add a little more to what Noel said . I think it is best to run rexe with your user AC (User Account Control) slider all the way down. Just type in User -AC in your start menu an you will see it. With that you will have every right to your computer. But also still use "Run As Admin" i still use it even dow i have the user account control slider all the way down. I think I'll stick with textures with REX essentials for now, and will give that new FSX Opus weather program a go. I am sorry to hear your frustration. We have posted helps on our forum, but until we get SP1 out to everyone this is what you can do to help your performance. Please do the following to increase your performance until Service Pack 1 is released: 1.) In the CONFIGURATION MANAGER/WEATHER TAB please enable the "enable archive weather data purge" 2.) In the CONFIGURATION MANAGER/WEATHER TAB please disable the "enable weather interpoloation of weather stations." 3.) In the CONFIGURATION MANAGER/WEATHER TAB please disable the "enable weather data overwrite". 4.) Finally if you have MS Access you can run a repair and compact database function on the mdb file. Please note that we will be releasing a program that allows the users to compact/repair their databases when we release Service Pack 1. BTW - we will be making some BIG announcements very soon in regards to REX Essential. Reed StoughManaging PartnerREX SIMULATIONS website: www.rexsimulations.comsupport: www.rexaxis.com
