Avsim Library Download v1.3 now available at http://library.avsim...isc&DLID=169743

Please note that if you have installed the v1.2 from this thread there is really no need to install again - the only difference is the installation script!

Sorry, my mistake.

Thanks for all the work Steve!

Now - if only you can fix the runways flashing with FlightZone's KPDX, re this post!!!

There has been lots of interest in this airport over the years, as PDX is/was almost the very best of the best. Not wishing to detract anything from the excellent patch which these two gentlemen have made, PDX still has numerous issues, and the fix is now more complicated than ever, as a result of a third parties involvement. You have displayed your talents and resourcefulness in a most convincing way - and I think that if anyone could achieve this you can - and if you would create a professional conversion patch - I am sure there will be a strong market for it.

I don't know how I missed that post about PDX Paul, as I have it archived on my external hdd, did not have the heart to delete it.

Glad I didn't now. I installed FT KSEA following your comments about it a while ago, took me a few days though, after making a few boo boo's. So I am keen to see if I can get PDX installed.

Be great to have Steve's input with this, and I might wait to see if he can do anything for us. I always get nervous if I risk breaking PNW, if you know what I mean.

Please excuse my ignorance, but when I run the batch file for the 1.3 DX10 Shader fix, the command box pops up and I get another small popup that states "Sorry cannot find FSX installations. Please set environment vartiable FSXDIR".

Do I neet to start a command box and type a command statement along with the batch file? My FSX installation is not on my root drive. Thanks in advance for help with this.

No problem, there are some terse instructions in the readme. However here is a more informative pictorial guide that I just put together!

http://stevesfsxanalysis.wordpress.com/2012/07/04/how-to-set-an-environment-variable/

I shall be releasing a new version in the next week with a fix for bridge textures that disappear at night and I will try and update the setup process.

It currently examines all your drives but only looking under "\program files" on each one. It might be possible to figure it out better from the fsx.cfg by looking at SImObjects

Steve,

Thanks for the additional info. I updated the path per the instructions and it ran fine. Now I have to play with several options to get my anti-aliasing to work under DX10. So far everything else is really smooth. Thanks!

I have uploaded a v2.0 of the shader patches to the library - hopefully this will be available to download later today.

There are two changes

1) new fix for Missing Night Scenery/Bridges - often reported as "missing night textures".

The problem here is that FSX in DX9 mode fades between the night texture and the day texture as the light fades.

The DX10 shader does exactly the same but sets the transparency of the night texture to totally transparent before doing this.

The result is that in DX10 the scenery becomes more transparent as the light level falls... until it disappears.

A good place to see this is Le Bourget in Paris - start on the runway at dusk and observe the rocket in front of the terminal - you will find that if you move the time forward the rocket becomes more transparent and fainter.

After some testing I have set this change to apply tor all versions of the DX10 general10 shader - please report if you see any side effects.

2) A new installer that searches the whole computer for FSX thus avoiding the need to set an environment variable if the installation directory is non standard.

Thanks so much for your contributions Steve! I will need to try these tweaks out once I get back home.

I have been following this thread with great interest. The work done thus far is outstanding. We all know that there are issues with DX10 and AA ,vsync,DX9 textures, etc. My question is - has there ever been a comprehensive list put together of all the DX10 Preview issues? Some majors ones seem to have been resolved up to this point to actually make it a viable option.

I don't know, DanDimm, but it's an excellent suggestion. If I were you - I might just start a new thread entitled "Please Post all DX10 Errors Here", and hope that Steve Parsons reads it, and keeps up his enthusiasm.

Remember - all Steve's great work is voluntary - as was that of ******* Altuve - Bojote. If he's as successful as was ******* - and our thanks and "Well done's" are sufficient - the Simworld will owe an enormouse debt of gratitude to these two guys.

Hi Mister Steve,

I like very much that you do so briantly for DirectX 10 in FSX.

You're a genius.

Congratulations. Thank you very much.

Best regards.

Christophe.

Regarding the flashing street lights, I found that if I turn on my landing light, the street lights will be stay on and no flashing. As soon as I turn off my landing light, those street lights on/off and flashing again. (It makes me feel like the landing light switch in my aircraft is influencing the street lights in whole city)

Hi Stevejp!

Many thanks for those wonderful improvements!

I have been converted to DX10 for quite some time now (as a matter of fact when shifting from XP to W7...) and now the question is finally solved.

One last problem: the information tags in the cockpit do not appear under DX10. Not that I really need them, except with one exception : the Aerosoft Twin Otter trim setting does not appear anywhere in the cockpit. If you want to know if you take off at neutral, or up, or down, the only way to know it is to drag the mouse on the handle and read the tag...

Do you think possible to settle that with one of your magics?

Thank you for any possible answer.
