August 29, 201213 yr I remember back in '84 or '85 when I was working at an engineering firm in the summer doing blueprints. One of the electrical engineers installed a flight sim that featured an F/A-18 Hornet that you could launch from an aircraft carrier. Attached to the computer was a mouse like device that had a 3" stick attached to it, my first joystick LOL. "1985 - SubLOGIC Based on SubLOGIC's Flight Simulator (aka Microsoft Flight Simulator), you can choose either an F-16 for land missions or an F-18 for carrier-based missions." \Robert Hamlich/
August 29, 201213 yr SubLogic's JET, I was so excited when I got it for my C-64. I'll never forget that sim, extremely difficult to fly...my first introduction to frame rate issues in flight simulators. Brian Riggs PPL 2001
August 29, 201213 yr Commercial Member Anyone remember Chuck Yeager's Advanced Flight Trainer for the C64? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pyu0w1fzyIc&feature=related Yes i can still hear that unforgettable sound of the SR-71 when you hit the afterburner. And seeing stars when you hit around 84000 ft with the almost complete loss of control. Looks like you bought the farm. Regards, Dave Opper HiFi Support Manager

August 29, 201213 yr Author I remember being a young kid and getting my first computer, a commodore 64. i eventually got a version of flight simulator for it, but dont really remember too much about it. I really got hooked on FS when i got ahold of 5.1 and its expansion packs..there was a hawaii expansion and i think the other one was the caribbean. The thing i miss the most from those early editions was the monster paper manuals they came with. ive had every edition of FS since 5.1. It has always been a wild ride and many happy moments, one of them being flying in many multiplayer sessions with Milton Shupe, who is the creator of many great addon planes. His name was IFRfun back on the old microsoft game chat site, which i was a everyday visitor to. My handle on there was aviator_1. I really miss that chat room. a lot of good ideas could get passed back and forth very quickly.
