Every release of the sim has been better than the one before: how many times since then have we said to our friends, wives, girlfriends - "It's just what it's like in real life" and "It's just like the real thing".. now it's 4.9 gig and a 580 and DX10 - and Orbx PNW scenery, and AS weather, RC4, NGX, GSX to carry the flightbag, and so on.. as real as it gets.. :LMAO:

and a Copy of Sierra Pro Pilot

I miss sierra pro pilot...that sim had potential...

I remember back in '84 or '85 when I was working at an engineering firm in the summer doing blueprints. One of the electrical engineers installed a flight sim that featured an F/A-18 Hornet that you could launch from an aircraft carrier. Attached to the computer was a mouse like device that had a 3" stick attached to it, my first joystick LOL.

"1985 - SubLOGIC

Based on SubLOGIC's Flight Simulator (aka Microsoft Flight Simulator), you can choose either an F-16 for land missions or an F-18 for carrier-based missions."

SubLogic's JET, I was so excited when I got it for my C-64. I'll never forget that sim, extremely difficult to fly...my first introduction to frame rate issues in flight simulators.

Anyone remember Chuck Yeager's Advanced Flight Trainer for the C64?

Yes i can still hear that unforgettable sound of the SR-71 when you hit the afterburner. And seeing stars when you hit around 84000 ft with the almost complete loss of control. Looks like you bought the farm.

I remember being a young kid and getting my first computer, a commodore 64. i eventually got a version of flight simulator for it, but dont really remember too much about it. I really got hooked on FS when i got ahold of 5.1 and its expansion packs..there was a hawaii expansion and i think the other one was the caribbean. The thing i miss the most from those early editions was the monster paper manuals they came with. ive had every edition of FS since 5.1. It has always been a wild ride and many happy moments, one of them being flying in many multiplayer sessions with Milton Shupe, who is the creator of many great addon planes. His name was IFRfun back on the old microsoft game chat site, which i was a everyday visitor to. My handle on there was aviator_1. I really miss that chat room. a lot of good ideas could get passed back and forth very quickly.

My first computer...a spectrum 64.used to play dungeons and dragons type games..

speech consisted of BZZZ BBBBBBBBBZzz bbbzzzz at the time i remember thinking yeh yeh i know what your saying

and then came fighter pilot..i was hooked

The Amiga is awesome, i have ever Amiga system that was released...still working. F/A18 Interceptor, somebody mentioned it eariler, was the game that got me to bug my parents to buy my first A500, with the Red Power LED and Green drive light, still have it, still working. The good ole days of Microprose and Wild-Bill Steely, happy times.
