Best of luck Bob - FS has had different meaning in my life. I got sick at 30 - REALLY sick and flight simming allowed me to escape the pain and disappointment of chronic pain and disability. I hear you though on the money pit simming can become. Like a yacht, the two best days are the day you buy it and the day you sell it. Good luck to you and really enjoy the time you have with your family.

I definitely probably spend too much time in front of my computer but its my main hobby so I feel its justified.

Life without fun is not worth living. As said, finding a balance of interests and responsibilities is key.

Good luck, hope you come back with a more moderate schedule so you may continue to enjoy simming.

bob is right and i :clapping: for stepping up and moving on. This hobby is very expensive and time consuming. One day we will all do what Bob just did.

I am with you on that one.....or as Charlton Heston says:

From my cold dead hands.

just enjoy a balance of all good things in life as everything in moderation is healthy.

I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me

Lost? Could be worst things in life like setting in a bar soaking your life away!

You could do both: Sitting the bar soaking your life away AND do some Flight simming on a laptop while there.

Stan

Good luck to you.

I too have struggled with spending too much time

on the computer, putting my loved ones and relationships

second.

The first step is admitting you have a problem, but also

looking at your values and replacing simming with things

that will help achieve them.

Also realising what triggers the compulsiveness-for

me usually frustration or self criticism.Usually the need to escape

Difficult emotions rather than accept and stay with them until they

Subside.

The thing that will help the most is self compassion.

Remember that you too are human and that you can learn

And understand more and each day begin again.

God luck on your journey through life.

Good decision Bob,

If you think stopping altogether is your best chance to changing your life for the better, walk away and don't look back.

The best of luck and life!

Goodbye.

Kind regards,

Some computer addictions are really bad, i have a 21yr old male neighbour who quit high school at age 14 and has been addicted to Xbox video games ever since. He has no friends and never had a girlfriend. The parents tried to remove the xbox from his room but he attempted suicide by slashing his wrists, he survived the wounds. Im trying to help him, i talk to my neighbour and his parents but they are too scared or embarassed to take him to a therapist. I also have a brother who is married with 2 kids and has a career as a high School Teacher in Toronto, he is heavily addicted to FaceBook......he posts everything on that site and i mean everything (what he's doing, where he's going, what he's eating, etc. etc.)

I'm not an angel also, in the past 10 years I have spent over $90 000cdn in hardware/software for all my devices in the house. I could have bought a sports car or a downpayment on a home.

I think you can get parent lock software to limit usage if you have no control. Maybe get the kids to set it for you since its a "parent lock' lol

My first encounter with simulations was when I was in training to be an air traffic controller back in 1974

I am still simming, only. No real flying, no ATC.... just this

Can not leave it.

parents but they are too scared or embarassed to take him to a therapist.

I think they should overcome this MAJOR blockage to their child's' welfare.

At 21 years of age this is not good.
