September 28, 201213 yr We will exactly do that, Dan B) We are ready for such competition - you will see it very, very, very soon  and as you wrote: competition is good Cheers, Richard -- Richard Stefan / Navigraph [email protected] omg are you guys going back to FREEWARE?? nothing beats that when it comes to competition
September 28, 201213 yr What a ridiculous statement. Probably because some feel everything should be free. We will exactly do that, Dan B) We are ready for such competition - you will see it very, very, very soon  and as you wrote: competition is good Cheers, Richard -- Richard Stefan / Navigraph [email protected] AWWWW!!!! :p0503: I LOVE IT! omg are you guys going back to FREEWARE?? nothing beats that when it comes to competition  Freeware has NOTHING to do with "Competition"! Very little is anywhere near as good if it is free. Robert Yunque
September 29, 201213 yr I can't believe you think it should be free. The data they use and the work to covert it to use in FS sure aren't. I can't believe you think he thinks it should be free.
September 29, 201213 yr I think I will stick with Navigraph for now as we'll. I have a lt of chart sets with them as well. I look forward to see what they will do in the future to compete. Eric
September 29, 201213 yr Commercial Member To update a real aircraft's ARINC data for a single 28-day cycle is in the thousands of dollars range. You really think $10 is expensive to get the exact same data?? Ed Wilson Mindstar AviationMy Playland - I69
September 29, 201213 yr That's correct! I work for a part 135 charter company, and am responsible for updating the nav data in all of our fleet aircraft each month. I am also responsible for setting up the accounts with the database vendors. Jeppesen worldwide navadata for a Honeywell NZ2000 FMS is over $10,000 per year, PER AIRCRAFT. And the interesting thing is that the RW database actually has less information than the FS version one might get from Navigraph or Aerosoft. The reason for that is the actual NZ2000 has a hardware limited NVRAM memory size, and with the rapid increase in the number of RNAV approaches in the world, Jepp has had to drop coverage completely for airports with runways less than 4000 feet long, in order to make the rest of the database fit the available memory. Even with that limitation, thay have had to drop some RNAV approaches from larger airports that they do cover. Rockwell-Collins Proline 21 navdata for just North America only is almost $5,000 per year, per aircraft. Want to take a guess who supplies that navdata to Rockwell-Collins? Lufthansa! September 30, 201213 yr One should mention though, that the expense in real aviation nav-databases is not because of the database information itself...but because of the liability. Astars have 70's Citroen parts in them...but they sure cost more than an identical automotive sourced part. Make no mistake, Aerosoft, LH, LIDO...they're all making a profit off this. But that's not a bad thing per sae. Personally...with Navigraph one can try out a demo (even if it's an older one.) I'd like to see Aerosoft do the same. Patrick Houghton
September 30, 201213 yr In the end, we will pay what we feel is necessary and worth it to support our hobby. If flying with better coverage means even a price hike to $50 a year, I would pay it....because better coverage is more realistic which = great for me, and $50, even spending $100 for the entire year is worth it in my opinion. I can't believe people still charge for this.. I can't believe you said that. AJ Pongress
September 30, 201213 yr Just purchased the annual subscription with Aerosoft. I have used Navigraph in the past and while I was generally happy with the data, the download and update procedure was annoying me big time. I have accumulated a fair few add-ons in my time, and to download and execute each file individually took time away from flying, and I have very little time for that as it is. Also I found Navigraph was missing a fair few airports I fly to, such as regional Australian towns, as well as a couple of larger fields (PHNL for example). I have just been checking out a number of places (using Aivlasofts EFB) that I didn't have data for in the past, and am happy to report that so far I haven't come across an airport missing procedures. Personally I think $32 is a bargain for an annual subscription to the entire real world LIDO database, but that's just my opinion of course. Your milage may vary. Cheers, Alex
October 1, 201213 yr The price is not too bad, let us know how it goes if any problems with Aussie airports
October 1, 201213 yr Personally I think $32 is a bargain for an annual subscription to the entire real world LIDO database, but that's just my opinion of course. Your milage may vary. I agree. The price is very good. I already have a year subscription with Navigraph, so I will have to wait to try it, but Navigraph will probably kick up their game by the time I'm ready to renew. The thing that is really attractive to me is the ease of updating Aerosoft's version. I want to try it out so bad, but I'll have to be patient. Robert Yunque
February 1, 201313 yr Some of the differences: Much better coverage: Every IFR-Procedure that is published by state source (AIP) is included. No more "Not in Database" in most of the cases. Support of RF-Legs (Radius to FIX, for PMDG interpolation similar to DME ARCS Conversion of CI-IF-TF Path Terminator Combinations into CI-CF. More relieable, Navtech (data provider of navigraph) has delayed some changes to the next cycles in the past. That does not happen here unless the sources arrive very late. Jan-Paul Jan-Paul, all that sounds good. I also understand it is just one download with NavDataPro and then the installer updates all your aircraft for FS9/FSX automatically. Is that correct? Does it update aircraft airac in P3D? With Navigraph each aircraft's airac cycle data needs its own download, backup of previous cycle, and then install new cycle.... repeated for each aircraft ... which takes a good bit of time. I see Navigraph has (finally, since AeroSoft's NavdataPro) stopped using the "Credits" purchases that must be used within 270 days ... or your remaining credit balance is lost ($). February 1, 201313 yr I can't believe people still charge for this.. I could not agree more. This data should be free for everyone to use!! Why don't you buy the data and format it to work with all of our add ons and set up a website along with customer support 24/7 and then we can all have it for free!! Perhalps you could support it by giving away free computer components, monitors, and copies of all the software as well. Then if you could give us all free high speed internet access that would be great. Now we all have life just like you want it free. Jeeez....my head is exploding!! Why you have brought a quote up from 5months ago, I am not too sure, it's already been discussed at length, I was merely repeating what an FS developer discussed with me. My Bad!! I did not notice that it was dated. It still makes my head want to explode when anyone wants stuff for free. There is nothing that I know of that is truly free. So many people complaining about cost does little to advance our hobby. There is nothing wrong with shopping for the best product with the best price.
