CaptainSim: We develop products for FSX only

Hi.

I was asking at CaptainSim, if their 777 (recent Version 0.9) would have a native P3D installer in the final version, but that was the simple answer...

I hope, some day they will regret... ;-)

I stopped caring as much as i did for CS when they went for the 777 instead of finishing up the rest of their planes: 707, 727, 737, 757, 767. Most are nearly done and need just a few tweaks to make them perfect while others (727, 757) need quite a lot of work to complete and YET they start up another project, as huge as a T7? Meh.

I bought all of those products, and unless they finish them after releasing the 777 version 1.0 i'm not spending another dime with them. That's their last chance for me.

As for the P3D native installer... Heh, i don't even see them considering that unfortunately <_<

+1

And with a PMDG T7 on the way, seems to me like wasted effort. Especially since they haven't shown me that they can finish a plane.

It's not like it's all that difficult to provide a choice to the customer's install needs:

Maybe we should call it "Simolution". Any developer who does not take P3D under their wing is just missing out on a new market. A market that requires little additional development as compared to a different platform - say Xplane. While I enjoy my CS 732 (one aircraft they did seem to complete), in P3D (ooops... I didn't say that), I have no problem leaving any developer behind for the sake of a better sim platform. And that means ANY developer.

Intel i9-12900KF, Asus Prime Z690-A MB, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, (3) SK hynix M.2 SSD (2TB ea.), 16TB Seagate HDD, Gigabyte GeForce 5080 RTX, Corsair iCUE H70i AIO Liquid Cooler, UHD/Blu-ray Player/Burner (still have lots of CDs, DVDs!)  Windows 10, (hold off for now on Win11),  EVGA 1300W PSU
Netgear 1Gbps modem & router, (3) 27" 1440 wrap-around displays
Full array of Bravo, Saitek and GoFlight hardware for the cockpit. Varjo and HP VR headsets for mixed reality.

I will rather buy the PMDG 777. Anything that comes down the pike from these guys never cease to amaze me.

Those words have not fallen onto deaf ears. :wink2:

I lost all desire for CS's stuff once I got the 727 and saw they embedded a "Captain sim" logo on the glareshield. What an immersion killer.

Well the PMDG 777, as good as it will be, will still not have a P3D installer so we are not really any better off in that respect. As for this new method of add on by 'drip feed'.....no thanks. Also given that LM will neither confirm nor deny that version 2.0 will eventuate (but in the same breath hinted that some add ons may not work with it) I can see the reluctance of developers to really commit to it. The fluffing around with the EULA certainly isn't helping either. As P3D is not for entertainment but rather training purposes, it exposes the add on developers to a liability issue should something untoward happen in the RW as a result of training with that add on.

Cheers

Hey NaMcO,

I thought you are/were a moderator over at CS? I recall seeing a lot of posts from you helping simmers out when I was updating my CS 732.

PMDG have now said that they will have a P3D v2.2 installer in 1Q14.

Although I have the CS777 working in P3D, it has some quirks with readouts,

If PMDG fulfill their intention then that is the way I will go as soon as it is released.

CS should stay with the market.  I don't know how many are moving to P3D, but most of the serious simmers have that I know.  Cloud shadows and the like are improving immersion beyond any other sim experience.

KInd regards,

Ian McPhail

Why are so many developers getting so precious about Prepar3d??

I was looking at the F1 Mustang forums yesterday to see about compatibility with Prepar3d, and to say the developer was short, abrupt and rude to someone who asked him would be an understatement!

I've seen a similar reaction from many developers
