April 10, 201412 yr In a year or two such luddite developers will have no choice but to adapt or go the way of the dodo, simple business sense in the diminishing market that is FSX.
April 10, 201412 yr No support for P3D2 no money from me! It is that simple! <_< And we will see in a year or two were they are... Please bear in mind, however, that even today there are some poeple using FS9 so I gues that even in ten years there will be some leftover from FSX. But my bet is that in one year P3D2 will be the simulation plattform (together with x-Plane) that is state of the art. FSX will be left behind. April 10, 201412 yr If you took the time to actually follow the CS forum , you would see that many of their products already work in prepar3d. A lot of what happens in the form of support at CS is provided by the users. Ron Ron Service .
April 10, 201412 yr Hey NaMcO, I thought you are/were a moderator over at CS? I recall seeing a lot of posts from you helping simmers out when I was updating my CS 732. Clutch Wow, i missed this and it was more than a year ago. Only noticed now because the thread was bumped. I was a registered user and helped people sometimes and painted tons of liveries for their products. Later on i deleted my account because of the way they lead their development (i disagreed so i left). I re-registered now to make a few suggestions to their upcoming 767 2.0 and see if i can help save it from disaster. April 10, 201412 yr I closed the door on CS, but also on FSX. No more purchases for it. Developers need to move on to other sims. Same here, No more purchases for FSX now unless they are in a well priced dual licence format.
April 10, 201412 yr PMDG have now said that they will have a P3D v2.2 installer in 1Q14. Well, the first quarter of 2014 ended 10 days ago, so something tells me that might be old information. Can you provide a link or reference to their mention of an installer for v2.2 in 1Q2014? (*genuinely interested in seeing the info) -Greg

April 11, 201412 yr I share the same sentiment, and I will heavily support those developers that support my platform. Yep. I'm finding myself buying types of add-ons that I never seriously considered before, because their devs are catering to the needs of P3D users. The more profitable P3D add-ons become, the more there will be.
April 11, 201412 yr Commercial Member The other thing to know is P3D opens a market for third party developers and will keep them from fading away as FSX fades away. REX AccuSeason Developer REX Simulations
April 14, 201412 yr someone asked my reference for Cpt Randozza's statement that certain products will be provided with P3D installers. Here is the link. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/426978-pmdgs-p3d-development-status-fact-thread-updated-25nov13/ I will certainly buy the T7 when released for P3D. However not knowing the market shares of FSX and Prepar3D, and the legacy FS9 and also X-Plane it is hard to comment on the viability of making for P3D. But I know I am cemented onto P3D, will only buy for it, and favour those makers who cater for us. KInd regards, Ian McPhail
April 14, 201412 yr It is a shame to lose Flight1 though, over the years they have consistently released great aircraft, but there are always casualties when the market moves on. Anyone remember FSD, last seen still trying to sell their FS2002/2004 aircraft to FSX users. New Dev teams will spring up and we will continue to move forward.
April 14, 201412 yr As great as P3Dv2.2 is, I'm not holding my breath for PMDG's entry into the Prepar3D world. Ian's link above reminded me of just how specific PMDG represented their licensing plans were going to be with P3D. It's not the eventual P3D availability of PMDG's leading products I'm fretting. Instead, it is my fear of a significant price departure from their FSX counterparts predicated on the licensing differences. Also, since PMDG seems to have a penchant for never having met a lawyer they didn't like, I wouldn't be shocked if a more "active" examination of your licensing right-to-use is performed prior to purchase. We're just in a wait-and-see mode with them I guess. Hopefully my speculative fears end up being completely unfounded! -Greg
