Isn't being married about being a family and sharing your life? ...... if you need to keep 'separate' things, the problem is with the relationship and trust, not the money itself.

 

We have a joint account that both salaries go into, all bills come out of, and with the disposable money that's left, we both just show some consideration, fairness and common sense ................ and never have any problems.

I feel for you guys. When I first got into flight simulation a lot of years ago, It would drive my wife crazy when I would sit in my home office and fly for hours. She was jealous of the flight simulation and would call it the "other woman". Since then, I have got rid of the wife and have been single for eleven years. I love it, now I fly as much as I want and buy as I can afford. And, my new girlfriend loves to watch. Life is Good.

Separate bank accounts... One joint account for bills... Fair share between both to bills account to cover them all... Do as you please with YOUR money as long as all bills are fairly shared and paid off... 21 years and counting...

 

Exactly. Works that way in my home too. We both get what we want, we're both happy and the bills are paid. Can't understand the point of any other method.

If you want to make a real confession, go through your PayPal account and add up all the money you've spent on simming in the last year.. It will shock :0

I am surprised at the number of "what's mine is mine, and what's yours is yours" comments, separate bank accounts - what the heck is that?

 

Not trying to be competitive here but 40 years of marriage and counting, love married life, everything is joint, we have a family budget, we don't care who puts what into it. We trust each other, we talk to each other, we share with each other, we communicate about what we are doing, we aren't seeking permission we are sharing, we know what limits we can work between and we just do it.

 

IE "Just so you know honey...I bought another scenery for flightsim yesterday". Its great, I love it" her response is usually, "good, I hope it's what your looking for".

Luckily my wife is addicted to her horses so she doesn't have a lot to complain about when it comes to my cheap hobby.

I own a cattle ranch. Horses for me are for work or roping. To her they're pets. But she and the kid like it so gone by me.

I'm not sure if I've even call MY horse a pet, i love it but it's not a dog or a cat. They have a job.

 

If I'm riding/training someone else's horse I don't feel an emotional attachment too much. I am able to form a bond with almost any horse quite easily, which makes my job easier. They just like me. But I'm with you in they are for work.
