Ok - but look at the link and you will clearly see its available worldwide.

Living in Europe means that I may want to listen to local ATC (not American chatter). The only way I can do that is to tune my airband tranceiver to the requisite frequency. and unless one has an RT licence that's illegal!!!

I'm sad... after all the reading of posts and watching of videos, I STILL can't find any ATC that actually sounds as realistic as FSX and that is the conundrum. As we all know, FSX ATC is crap, but it does sound more realistic IMO than anything else I've heard, and that's the irony. BTW, I have heard of meatwater(unsure if this is the name) As I understand things they are replacement sound files, is this correct? and if so, how on earth are these used with something like RC? also, can they be used with PFE?

Meatwater adds static and a rougher sound to RC. Makes it sould less clean. Yeah its replacement sound files. BIg Download.

PFE already has at least 100 regional voices plus radio static. It's all there!

Sure, but unless I'm missing something, it still sounds very robotic with the voices..

Yes, remember several years ago when that first came out. Pretty expensive as I recall then in comparison to others but I really haven't visited there for a long time so won't comment further. My lifestyle does not allow me to go 'real'. Thanks for the info anyway!

Best regards,

Jim

I don't know what it used to be, but liveatc.net is completely free.

No Jim, it's just free live ATC feeds. There used to be a payware program that USED their feeds and I guess that fell thru from licensing issues, but you can just go to liveATC.net, search for a controller you want to have running and that's it. It's the real deal for ambience ;o)

VOX atc using the $50 per voice IVONA or the5 voice $150 bundle, Dearer than poison but amazing immersion dont be a tight as# and try to use the cheap or free stuff its not worth it considering ATC is the biggest and most important addon

Compared to RC4 and others it's the least robotic ATC add-on. Frankly it's as close to real voices as one can get. The Italian, French, German, English, Asian voices at least, are quite realistic. There's also a really dishy controller usually on duty at Hong Kong :-)

UK authorities doesnt allow Pete.. thats what you got with more CCTV's then people around.

Your country is becomming a big brother is watching you country.

Therefore, no aviation feeds.. they are just afraid FSUIPC will be installed in BA planes Ill guess.

Can you show me a youtube of the 'good' voices? Since VOXATC uses MS speech, it is as robotic a the Terminater imho.

There are quite a lot of PFE videos on youtube with reasonably good voices. An additional voice pack was released with excellent voices. I can't say I've seen examples on youtube, but there maybe some.

Hi Howard,

To get the best out of PFE, you need the deluxe version with the additional voice pack. I found PFE much more realistic, and was a long time user of RC4. I think RC4 is showing it's age, and since RC5 is shelved for now, I don't intend to use it again.

The biggest issue with PFE, is it must be set up correctly, and flight planning must be correctly set up. Once you really get the hang of it, it is great.

Some users find it difficult, but it is one of those addons where one must RTFM, and visit the forum for tips and tricks. Also, it recognises a lot more airline ICAO call signs than FSX and RC4. Has taxi guidance, and even will give you permission to cross a runway during taxi (with taxi guidance enabled)

As for the voices, with the additional sound pack, it is the best and most realistic I have heard. When flying in the UK, Scotland and Ireland,, PFE really shines, as you get the different accents. There is even one that sounds like Jasper Carrot :)
