Are you using FSUIPC?

No, just FSX default for calibration.

I can't believe this thread is still going at this rate.   Register your controls with FSUIPC, Disable your joystick in FSX menu = 100% reliable joystick availability.

Well, in my case fsuipc doesn't even recognise joystick inputs in Windows 8.   Wysłane z mojego GT-I9100

  • I found that if I stick a banana in my ear and snort Pepsi through a pink straw I do not notice many drop outs.

Thanks MarkSC

How many of you have actually done a completely clean install of Windows 8.1? From what I have read, people whom are not experiencing joystick dropouts have all done a clean install...

Me. FSX was the first application to go into a virgin copy of 8.1.

Immediate dropouts.

Just for anyone who might find this useful:

Since a PSU change a week ago I had no disconnects whatsoever compared to a lot of them (multiple during a single flight on all stages) before that. The old one died on me and after I put in the new one haven't had a single disconnect.

Hardware:

Intel E6300 @ 2.8Ghz

Asus P5KPL-SE Mobo

2x2Gb Kingston PC-2-5300 667Mhz RAM

GeeForce 210 Graphics card w/ a gig or DDR3 (I know...)

400W Chieftech PSU which died substituted with a 500W one

1 500gig Seagate SATA drive (system, on which FSX resides on partition 3 of 3), 1 250gig Seagate IDE drive, and 1 1TB Seagate SATA drive

cheap A4Tech webcam and Saitek Evo Force Joystick

mouse is on USB

All drivers up to date.

Naw, a blue straw works better for me. B)

I have registered FSUIPC  had some dropouts but they immediately went away. I didn't need to unplug, they just went away.

Windows 8.1 has been done.

CH Eclipse Yoke was stuttering; going through Rod's instructions (nice AND simple to follow) fixed that issue.

Anyone try FX assist?

Hi ZiGarten - As developer of FSXAssist I wanted to say that we just updated our builds to Windows 8.1 and experienced immediate dropouts until we ran FSXAssist.  The plus side of Windows 8.1 is that task switching is proving to be much less problematic than Windows 8.  The task switching behavior is very similar to Windows 7 on our builds.

Thanks Jim I will try it. Now with FSUIPC I get drop outs, again, more $$.

If I assign the axis to FSUIPC, then the rudders are backwards, clicking rev field option did nothing. Forcing me back to using FSX assignments, thus creating drop outs. Around and around I go.
