Prepar3D 1.4 disappointment

Featured Replies

I can run either SB4 or FSINN with the migrator tool without a hitch on P3D, but I agree, a native interface to Vatsim would be terrific!

I got SB4 working Prepar3D without any problems either, but I didn't use the migrator tool, i probably did it in a more complicated way! lol

I read somewhere that there is some work being done to make a VATSIM client for Prepar3D! :)

Stephen thank you for doing that ,I was worried I would most likely delete all of Avsim

That is my biggest fear when I have my cursor on some big Administrative power buttons, but I think Tom is the only one who could get us into really big trouble real fast that we could not get out of.

Is it time to wind down this thread since it has sort of slipped into the same old thing?

Yeah this will be debated for a long time until such time a new version and licenses are avail. But I'll chime in at the risk of flaming for whatever reason.

Personally Im pretty certain LM is not stupid in the least, and the 199 and 499$ price points were out of reach for the majority of fsx simmers. By creating a $50 price point they knew darn well this opened the door for alot of fsx simmers to try it no matter how you interpret "training purposes".

I train myself in cooking, therefore my kitchen is only for training purposes. Doesnt mean I dont enjoy it as a consumer as well.

One more thing regarding Avsim. They agreed to do an indepth interview with Avsim. Not just for the explanation of the EULA but to describe what it is and what its future is. Now if they were REALLY against the consumer entertainment purpose, would they really do an interview to detail with Avsim? Im pretty sure not. If they were it would be to just set the matter straight on the EULA and nothing else. As it was they talked about FSX addons all of which are produced for this "Entertainment" word. In fact encouraging them to produce addons knowing full well they claim have no interest in the entertainment market.

Well I for one am training everyday flying. My knowledge of flying aircraft particularly tube liners, FMC management, and physics has greatly increased since i started flying with a PC in 1986. I call that training and learning. It doesnt have to be at an official flight school. Its from home. Just like business run from home. You can be sure that LM reads all these forums about p3d. More as feedback. We are all in it to enjoy flying at the same time making flight simulation on PCs way more viable, stable , and as real as it gets by constructive feedback, not as negatives to one another. We are all pilots in some way or another to different degrees. And pilots respect each other no matter what airline.

Exactly and that's the great contradiction to all this legal BS in a nutshell. Among others.

Then why do they keep saying "Prepar3D does not support just-for-fun simming"? Doesn't look like they're trying to encourage us to use the product.

On the contrary. They are encouraging us. I just stated above they did a full interview with avsim. Avsim motto..

"AVSIM is a free service to the flight and simulation communities. Please help us keep it that way. Donate what you can today! Thank you for your support!"

Flight and simulation community. Aka majority fsx, plane, and anything else to do with it including hundreds of add ons. PC simulation for entertainment and for home learning. Doesn't get more inviting than that plus making sure all fsx addons compatible plus ensuring add on devs have support plus I haven't seen one notice warning to a dev about making their products with native installers for p3d. If this was a huge issue for them you can bet LM would be all over this like white on rice with lawyers. That to me is a big invitation. The wording for EULA is to please Microsoft and other lawyers in a legal way.

But they said that Prepar3D cannot support just-for-fun simming in that AVSIM interview. Really, the only reason they accepted the interview is to gain more publicity. They couldn't have said no.

And I don't think that Microsoft is at fault in here. Lockheed Martin don't care for the simmers, just for the training market. That's why they bought the ESP. And I'm personally going to support developers who cater to me, not the training or the professional market.

Software for the Training and Professional market for $49.99....where do I sign up

Just take a look at the website. "Training", "Training", "Training" is plastered all over it. The Academic version is intended for home use by undergraduate students, according to the website.

Went to the website and youre right...Training, Training, Training all over the place. Downloading now...Thx for the tip!!!!

But not according to the Academic Licence.
