Sorry guys, didn't wanna sound like a smart-@ss, or a staff member, however some of the replies in the thread sounded a bit too emotional and personal. The reasoning and the background was explained in detail by Stephen, it's a clean deal, hence I think it's better leaving it than starting a fire (even a small one) because of conflicting personal opinions...

Why do people think it's a harsh punishment exactly? While Word Not Allowed was a valued member of the forum, from reading the original post it seems like the moderators gave him more than enough chances to stop and was probably made well aware of what would happen if he didn't.

Okay sure, perhaps he was given many chances but how about elevating punishment i.e a temp ban before going all out?

Based on the clear statement from Stephen the unfortunate and sad decision to ban Word Not Allowed is fully understandable.

 

I also think it is a good thing to be open about such things and not try to sweep them under the rug.

This was not political and the death penalty has absolutely squat to do with it. Don't even go there.

A big suprise, but assuming the original post is all true (not saying it isn't)... Then meh, you did what you had you had to do, unfortunate story but it looks like it had to be done. I am a large part of another large forum which had a similar character, everyone looked up to him and his attitude changed to a point he thought he was untouchable, another unfortunate story but I am sure all large forums have them.

 

I love how so many members hope he gets a second chance... second? Going by the OP he has had many more chances than a cat has lives.

 

 

 

I just hope the community doesn't suffer too much in the end.

Tom, you know I love you to death (no homo seriously) but even though I agree with the intent of the OP which was to squash conspiracy theories and all sorts of different versions from being thrown around, I think the thread should have been locked from the get go. With Word Not Allowed not being around to defend himself, it seems like the thread has become a public lynching. Like I said, the guy is not around to defend himself. OP was good but it would've been perfect if it was closed right after posting it. Just my humble opinion. ;-)

With all due respect to the Management of Avsim, I don't think its anyone's business why Word Not Allowed was fired from Avsim. To air this parting of ways in public like this is just making a circus out of a non-issue and you're putting yourselves in quite a precarious position. Nothing good is going to come of this...why not let cooler heads prevail, reign in the egos, and remove this thread for the sake of all involved.

Then it would pop up all over Avsim, this thread people can expess their opinion on the matter rather than carry it around all of Avsim.

It's a double edged sword, on one hand it becomes everyones business which isn't ideal especially for Word Not Allowed, on the other if the details were not expressed in the first post the amount of speculation, doubt and anger would be huge and worse than it is now in my opinion. The community and people involved suffers either way but I feel it is less so by Avsim just stating it as it is.
