Thanks, Ian (WotanUK). It's been a hard month in a number of ways.

Shame things ended the way they did as with any member. I never really had any interaction with Word Not Allowed but read his posts with interest as I do with most of the members thoughts and ideas on these forums. I don't have an opinion whether I agree with the banning or not and nor is that relevant.

Stephen you have written the events clearly and to the point. Well done on that. Its obvious, by the recent events stated above, that it was not an easy nor 'overnight' decision based on one or two occurances.

Why has everyone ignored my post? I would really appreciate it if I got a link to AVSIM's policy.

Some one needs to draw you a map? No one is ignoring your post. Click on the Terms of Service link that is on every page of our system. Do you read any of our nearly continuous messages about keeping up with our ToS'? I suggest you start paying attention to them.

I still can't see it anywhere?! I've taken a look at all forums in the front page and I still can't find the link to that. And what do you mean on every page of the system? In the post layout?

You know, you could have just supplied me with the link (what I asked) and be done with this.

EDIT: Never mind, just saw it on your signature. But your posts are not in "every page of the system".

You signed up to this system recently. The fact that you have to demand that we point out the ToS of this system is most revealing about you. You agreed to them without reading them. You can find the ToS link at the bottom of every page in the system and in my signature... I suggest you read them closely.

There's no need to be that harsh towards me. I found the link and read the ToS. It's over.

Just an observation. Not just AVSIM BTW. All administrator are egotistical maniacs that fight with each other. Evidently they lack power in there real lives and need an outlet for the lack of it. :)

That is out of order. You owe us an apology my friend.

You have no idea what we have to deal with everyday, just so that you can enjoy everything AVSIM provides for free.

I guess our attempts to maintain neutrality at all times, not let personal views get in the way and biting our tongues most of the time means nothing to you.

Regarding the Word Not Allowed situation, Stephen and Chase have been warning him for months. It just couldn't go on like this. His treatment of Paul along with the continual EULA FSX P3D infringements was the final nail.....

I liked Word Not Allowed and know the others did as well, we were all very enthusiastic when he joined us. But it all went downhill as you can see for yourselves. His recent behaviour towards Paul was where it ended for me completely. We're pretty disappointed and didn't see any other choice. Given the circumstances - It was decided that it would be best to let everyone know the full story.

I have to say this came as a major shock.

X-Plane 12 and MSFS2020  🙂

System specs: Windows 11  Pro 64-bit, Ubuntu Linux 20.04 i7-13700KF  Gigabyte Z790 RTX-4060-Ti , 32GB RAM  1X 2TB M2 for X-Plane 12,  1x256GB SSD for OS. 1TB drive MSFS2020

At the root of this Administrative decision is a long held and nurtured policy , and it’s the philosophy of its application that seats the discussion in black and white terms , EULA terms must be respected , advocating breaking these licence agreements by staff is forbidden, promoting their breaking in our forums is not permitted .

This is the reason any offence of this nature is met with the same result, any links to websites promoting any form of EULA braking are removed, this is not anything new or unique to the case at hand but a fundamental regulation of participation in these forums and its content.

I am so new here that my view is almost insignificant. But Word Not Allowed helped me with a persistant graphical bug that was ruining my enjoyment of the sim. And as I use FSX as a training aid for my PPL studies, that was a big deal to me.

Whenever I have searched this forum looking for answers, the same name came up again and again, with the answer I required - Word Not Allowed's.

It is a real shame that you guys have needed to take the action that you've taken in my honest opinion. I believe that forgiveness and friendship can get around most issues without "lifetime bans" being required.

There seem to be a lot of references about Word Not Allowed's "attitude" yet I will stick my neck out and be honest here - some of the attitude I am seeing from the staff of this forum is, in my book, very sharp, condescending and unnecessary.

Just as a point of reference for my comments, I am the Admin of North America's most popular health and fitness fora.

Mmm, don't really know what to say to be honest. I'm sure Tom and the guys have their reasons, I just feel bad that someone such as Srdan, who has been such a kingpin and played such a part in Avsim has been dejected.

+1

I do not challenge the decisions by the management by any means, rules are rules, warnings are warnings, but it is a sad day.

Since I restarted with FSX last automn Srdan has helped me 10-20 times, almost at all hours of the day, by private mail, PM's and here on the forums.

Never a harsh word, quite the contrary, always patient, even as thick as I am with regards to Srdans knowledge. This is my experience through my private contact with Srdan, not a evaluation of his conduct here.

Just wanted that said. Sadly Avsim will not be the same.

Morten Steen

some of the attitude I am seeing from the staff of this forum is, in my book, very sharp, condescending and unnecessary.

If you were on the receiving end of what we get bombarded with daily, I suspect your attitude would be closer to ours (and mine in particular as I am sure the "condescending" part of your statement was aimed at me - and I am guilty as charged - I have a real low / non-existent tolerance for people who demand things from anyone, and especially those that are not willing to put in any effort to have their questions answered to begin with)... Anyway, until you walk in our shoes, etc. etc.

Another thing, and this is aimed at everyone... I have been repeatedly accused of being power hungry, egotistical, a control freak, etc etc, to the point of making me want to shut AVSIM down entirely. I don't need the aggravation. But, for those of you enlightened enough to ask, or better, actually read the messages and guidance that we post, you would realize that most decisions within AVSIM are made by the team, just as this one was.

This decision is not about personal animus. IT is about being responsible members of our collective community and doing what is right. EULA's are important. Advocating the busting of them is harmful to the community as a whole and it is important for everyone to realize it. Having someone, anyone, former staff member or otherwise, previous "big" contributor to the community or not, after numerous requests to not do so, eventually resulted in what you see being made public today.

I read this announcement this morning.

I can appreciate that this decision and action must have been very difficult and was not taken lightly. I trust that the staff at AVSIM have shown exceptional patience over an extended period in dealing with this matter.

Sometime back I ended up on the blunt end of personal comments from Srdan. At that time I was deeply annoyed but chose to take the high road and just let it go. I made no mention of it to AVSIM staff. I also notice a tread in posts and certainly noticed issues related to breach's associated with EULAs by this individual.

Posting lengthy details of events may not sit well with some members, but on the other hand it provides us with a clear rationale and leaves nothing to conjecture as to why this decision was made. This I appreciate. The only reason for having to lay out such detail was because of the indivdual and notoriety associated with him and the speculation that would have arisen if no rationale was provided.

I support AVSIMs actions and feel they were left with no other option.
