February 28, 201313 yr Commercial Member ...Actually there is something about trolleys. I wasn't actually sat in one but I was scootering downhill across the store carpark on one recently and it started to get away from me. I managed to get off in time to avoid a car. Just then I saw it looked like a brand new Police car and thought "nice livery". Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
February 28, 201313 yr I feel so much better knowing I'm not the only one who does things like this. My kids think I'm nuts because on several occasions, I've given a safety briefing as we're backing out of the garage letting them know there are 5 emergency exits - 2 at the front, 2 at the middle of the vehicle and 1 at the rear. Before I put the truck in gear and leave a parking stall at the mall, I request permission to taxi.

February 28, 201313 yr Commercial Member "request permission to taxi" I spat my tea out! When I next go shopping I'm going to try holding out a couple of carefully folded magazines, see if I get more lift. Perhaps if I load the trolley with less beer and more cake I'll get more lift. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
February 28, 201313 yr You know you spend too much time on FSX/X-Plane when: 1. You're sat on a real airplane looking out of the window, thinking "Wow good graphics, no blurries". 2. You know the exact name of the approach, and can see the VOR out the window and know its frequency and name, and that the plane is about to turn. 3. The best picture you have of your holiday is the one you took of the cockpit of the 737 4. You have charts on your iPad and check them during a real flight as a passenger. 5. When the plane is going down the runway, you say in your head "V1, V2, Rotate" Also I used to be a nervous flyer, the PMDG 737 has cured me. I now know just how safe these things are and strict checklists and policies are Rotating after V2??? I remember a journey by car with my wife, wondering whether we had all the things with us, we needed for the trip. Every question I asked her about this and that, she answered with a "checked" ... February 28, 201313 yr I just went for a drive and realised that I turned the Air-Con off before starting the engine! Not something that I've done due to FSX, but it was drummed into me when I learnt to drive, just thought it was coincidental. February 28, 201313 yr Come on now, time to move on from that kind of thing. Do you sit in the trolley with your arms out while your partner pushes? Now that's silly, he'd look rediculous with his arms out...! February 28, 201313 yr Moderator I do that totally!!!! I have to pretend that the shifter is on the left handgrip though, as trying to use my left heel/toe while walking would be very difficult... ...not to mention look very spastic! Fr. February 28, 201313 yr You know you spend too much time on FSX/X-Plane when: 5. When the plane is going down the runway, you say in your head "V1, V2, Rotate" Rotating after V2??? Yeah, it seems to me the OP really hasn't spend ENOUGH time on FSX ;<) Bruno
February 28, 201313 yr Author Moderator Rotating after V2??? Ha ha indeed you are right :-). Better get back to those PMDG tutorials

February 28, 201313 yr ...when you're driving in your car, call "flaps 15, gear down" and accidentally throw in the gear from 5th to 2nd..

When you have never piloted a passenger jet, but when you hear the pilot cleared for the approach on Channel 9, you say to yourself "I can do that. It's a piece of cake" Keith Guillory

You're on a United flight wearing noise cancelling headphones, listening to Channel 9, and you startle the passengers around you when you say out loud "over to 124.8, United 148" after listening to an ATC handoff...... I may not have done that before, but I've certainly startled the passengers around me before. A pilot had called in to Cleveland Center, and Cleveland Center had no idea who he was. Pilot identified himself again, at which point Cleveland Center told him he was supposed to be on a different frequency. Pilot said it was the fourth time they were given the wrong frequency, at which point Cleveland Center asked if it was the fourth time today or if it happens every day. Pilot said it was the fourth time since 3:00. I looked at my watch, it was 3:30 PM. I started laughing. I don't think the other passengers knew what was going on. Incidentally, that was the first time I was aware of the time, having been on that flight for a little over an hour and having not much time left before descending. Captain Kevin Air Kevin 124 heavy, wind calm, runway 4 left, cleared for take-off. Live streams of my flights here.
