I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me

I think Microsoft has got it and does know the direction it's taking with Windows in the future.

Really ?, then why are they having to scrap windows 8 so soon after release.

Lets face it the OS has been the biggest flop, even worse than the Vista debacle.

There are other choices out there now for desktop users, no need for Windows at all and folk know this.

BS, Have you heard about Blue????

I've been using Win 8 for a long time.

No problems here, and I generally like it more than Win 7, especially its new multi language support which is great for my non-Anglo voice control users.

However, I can't stand Metro.

But there's a simple fix for that.

It's called "Start8" and you can skip Metro and get the Start button back.

It's only around $5 and it's one of the best things I've ever bought (no I don't own the company B) )

Great find, thanks for posting.  I'm sure many W8 users will appreciated this utility.  Like Flight and Flight Simulator we seem to have opposing views in the Windows world as well (even if it adversely affects our community).  Didn't think we had two camps in the Windows arena especially after Flight and the new model MS wanted our developers to conform under (which didn't even get off the starting block).  You learn something new everyday I guess...  :friends:

Here's one I tried out in the beginning until I got used to switching back and forth which is free:  http://www.classicshell.net/  Allows you to boot right to the desktop and make it like the Modern UI isn't even there.

Also another free option called Start Menu 8 (http://www.iobit.com/iobitstartmenu8.php)

I liked the first one.  I might give it a try on my work VM we have setup for W8.

Not just Metro is bad.. This:

I hope MS is joking with this BSOD design. I really can't see a major business upgrading to Windows 8 and having to endure smiley faces on their computers.

Most major busineses have not even left Windows XP yet, can't see W8 ever getting on the desktop of any global company and I include Microsoft in that, wonder what they use ?

I can't see why not, especially if they are a business with young employees to whom emoticons are as familiar and as unexceptional (not to mention far more universally understood worldwide) as text.

That's almost like saying the male and female pictograms on public restrooms (Including those in big corporations) are too frivolous in a professional environment.

Evolution of OS cannot stop because people don't like the new "stuff" aka big colorful tiles that change their content every few seconds. So get over it. Win 8 is here, Win 8 Blue is following in a few months, Office 2013 and Office 365 is here also will be updates soon with this "blue" thing. Evolution is inevitable, whether you, I, we like it or no

Evolution is inevitable, but its direction depends from us. If enough people do not upgrade to Windows 8 and it continues selling poorly Microsoft ultimately has to either change the direction of this evolution or disappear from OS market.

At least for me there's absolutely no reason to upgrade, I've never been one of those people who just upgrade to new version simply because it's new, I need some real advantages to justify upgrade and so far I've found none with Windows 8.

Just because Windows 8 has some things previous versions didn't have doesn't mean these changes are actually good ones that would somehow improve user experience.

Exactly. My school district just this year changed our Windows XP old @$$ Dell Optiplex desktops for Lenovo ThinkCentres with W7 Enterprise. I doubt they're going to upgrade anymore.
