You know you're a Sim-Addict when....

Featured Replies

In the vein of the 'you know you're a redneck when.." lines here's my input..feel free to add you own or tell me its in the wrong forum,,if so sorry!!

You know you're a sim-addict when...

....You 'fly' more hours in a given day than you'd be allowed to as a RW commercial pilot..

...Your automobile closes in on traffic congestion and you instinctively pull back on the wheel....

....Your automobile goes over the speed limit/down a steep incline/approaches a parking lot and

you are concerned your GPS doesnt shout "OVERSPEED!/PULL UP" or emit a continuous BEEP...

....You are mowing the lawn and come across a thick section of grass or a large mound and instinctively try and change the pitch of the blade or adjust the mixture....

You constantly check your watch during a movie/date or bar session so can get home in time for TOD...

....You take your seat on a real world flight having spent the month before learning a payware version of the aircraft and have the SID/STAR and approach charts in front of you

(if you bought the aircraft checklists and QRH too then you should seek medical help!

.....Your neighbors call the cops cos they keep hearing a loud rumbling from your house.......

(You HAVE to turn the sub-woofer off for those engine starts)

im guilty of several of those but im not saying which! Hope that amused someone :D

You go to start your car and yell "CLEAR!!"

Very roughy... When you replace Sex with simulator sessions... That's when your brain cells are getting really intoxicated!!! Beware!!!

.......at times you'd rather play your sim than fly a real plane!!!! Have I gone mad?? I think so!

Probably not so much in the US with your horrible slushy automatic gearboxes; but I always drive one hand on the (control) wheel and one hand on the gear stick (thrust lever) and when slowing down always put it into 2nd, which is like the idle position :)

I also go really slowly on 90 degree turns, then accelerate hard on straight sections of road - I know it's bad and inefficient but what's a guy supposed to do :)

Ha, all that is not only commonplace, but socially acceptable around these parts. If us aviation students aren't up flying the real deal, we become simming dorm-hermits.

...you are driving your car with your hand on the volume knob for your car radio like it is the throttle in a Cessna

There is a saying 'Only flying gets you higher' after all!!!   B)

What happened to AVSIM

You're at the airport and you think "wow nice frame rates".

...When you back out of the garage very slowly to simulate pushback, and you give the family a safety briefing while doing so.

...When you start going up a hill and you reach for the landing gear lever.

Thanks,

Even better if you ask the wife to push it back explaining it's not safe to start the car until clear of the ground staff (the kids)

.. And your wife knowingly states POSITIVE Rate!

Why not do both at the same time :)

Before this conflict arose where I had to make up my mind between my wife and the sim (guess who won, lol!) we were on a trip by car and we were wondering whether we had left anything important at home. I would talk us through the items which came to my mind and my wife replied to each item with a "checked!" ...

What happened to AVSIM

1.When you set your cruise control, and monitor your speed on your dash board more than looking at the road

2. When you deal with your car built in Bluetooth phone as the Radio control or fmc

When you refresh PMDG's Facebook page every 5 minutes to see if there is a T7 update!
