August 12, 201312 yr Author Hi Maurice; AG and SC, clouds and traffic - all will benefit somewhat, but certainly anything created by the GPU's driver - such as AA and AF - will, too - however, your proc has to be able to generate and push the FSX graphics data - that AG an SC - to the GPU to be used, and that needs a balanced system to work properly. Until that proc gets to be 4.8 or above, with a high-end GPU - there is always going to be compromise. Read Nick's new "Bible" to get it straight from the shoulder!! For e.g. - an i7, running at 4.6 will be balanced by a GTX 580, but a 560 will be a bottleneck, and a 780 will be sitting, twiddling its' thumbs much of the time. Using an AMD proc at 4 gig - you're barely able to feed the 560 - especially so, if it's a Ti version. My best advice, for what it's worth, is - get the proc, mobo and memory up there first, then find a high-end gpu to match it. OK? :good: All the Best, peej i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
August 12, 201312 yr Thank you very much for the informative reply, Paul. My 560 is a standard, non Ti. I want to upgrade to an i7 eventually but it's going to take a lot of $ and I'm not ready for that yet. I will probably wait a few more years. Wow! I just looked at your system spec. Very impressive. I hope to have something that powerful one day. Thanks again. Nature Boy

August 13, 201312 yr LOL  . People tell me that when they see all my flight sim stuff, avaition DVD's and 1:400 model collection. I tell them "It makes me enjoy life even more". Nature Boy
August 13, 201312 yr After struggling with new hardware swicthing from HD5870 to a HD7970 Vapor-X ending up with CCC 13.4 only working minimized to taskbar i see improvements in Autogen (very dense) , SSAA and a little more smoothness. FPS is pretty much the same but i new that The load on the GPU is about 50-80% while on the CPU its about 90-98% with the NGX. RadeonPro is installed but not used because it makes my couatl.exe crash all the time (add-on manager from FSDT) CPU is I7-950@4,2 Ghz (is it worth upgrading regarding FPS to Haswll systems here ?more effectiv CPU) two places on earth makes me struggling extra hard finding a sweet spot and that is YBBN,YMML with ORBX Australia SP4 This Brisbane looks fantastic but putting my NGX all the way down to 8-10 fps some places. 15-18 fps is top on approach with no water and traffic Lokking forward to get Steves DX10 fixer btw (which is what this topic is about , sorry) Michael Moe
August 13, 201312 yr Any update about release? I'm bored of switching DX modes everytime I need to do a night fly. Don't say to use DX9 till its out because it crashes a lot. Büke Yolaçan
August 13, 201312 yr ...then I would wait for the 780. You will then match the processor with the GPU. Man, it's great to spend someone else's money! LOL we'll have to see. With my discount stuff I can use at EVGA we're talking $350 for a 4GB 770 vs. about $550 for a 3GB 780 plus shipping. Of course I figured out last night the 770 is the older G104 and I'd forgotten the 780 was a chopped down Titan with the G110 chip so yeah I'll have to think about that a bit. August 13, 201312 yr Author Oh, yes - the 780 is a d*** good card! You won't see a great difference with your present system, but one mobo, a real proc and some memory - she'll come alive, and then you'll be kicking yourself for buying the mid-range card. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
August 13, 201312 yr .......but remember - the patch is not the DX10 Fixer application which is now in its final stages of development. It does fix everything - every airport - that I've tested it against. WOW, this is a good news! Do you mean Paul that Shader Fixer will fix all fsx airport for DX10? I supposed, erroneously, that this fix was an automated process to switch from DX9 to DX10, instead to male manually what we have done editing FSX.cfg and other settings. So this fix has more depth features, other than DX10 fixer for orbx. Great! August 13, 201312 yr and then you'll be kicking yourself for buying the mid-range card. No truer words. I got the 660 (not TI) but mainly because of budget constraints. Wouldve been better to just wait it out for a deal on an X80 card. That said ive never seen my GPU load go past 65% in a heavy loaded scenario. (NGX, Overcast, Large city and airport). But probably the i5-2550k is struggling to push it through. One of these years, Ill definitly go for the I7 Haswell. Probably be obsolete by then, but thats the way it goes. lol CYVR LSZH I7-14700k 64gb 6000Mhz DDR5 ASUS z690 ROG STRIX Gaming RTX 4080 Super,

August 13, 201312 yr No shimmering or jaggies for me in DX10, I made a quick video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=laG5VpFYcpk - no post production modification either - just raw and compressed for YouTube. My FSX.CFG settings: Mode=2560x1600x32 AntiAlias=1 Anisotropic=1 MultiSampleQuality=4 MultiSamplesPerPixel=16 NVidia Inspector: I use these: http://www.robainscough.com/images/056a6299317d9f42bc6d2ff0dd06e115.jpg MultiSamplesPerPixel=16 ... Is that not tied to Sparse Grid Supersampling in Nvidia Inspector? Does it have an impact on FSX performance? Just wondering, thanks. \Robert Hamlich/
August 14, 201312 yr Author That's the one, Rob: Steve has mentioned this in his blog, and in the odd email, and this is how I use it - but only 4 & 4 or 8 & 8. I would think must be quite a load, eh? 16 and 16. Phew! That being said - I'm looking at 3840 x 1024, which is a fair bit bigger... i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
August 14, 201312 yr and then you'll be kicking yourself for buying the mid-range card. Oh yes, I know this well. My GTX 560 was well matched to my previous system (2.8GHz Quad Core), but was overwhelmed by my new system (4.6GHz Quad Core). Fortunately, I was able to pick up a well-treated GTX 580 and that is a MUCH better match. Synergy - if all is in balance, it will all work well.
