July 5, 201312 yr Hi, I'm not angry over the fact that you selected KDEN over another airport, you can read by my posting on F/B. It has to do with your post(s) on F/B. The way it reads to me is that you never intended to develop this airport at this time. You've now reiterate that statement here at AVSIM, as shown below. "I have no reason to make it, considering all the updates I would be forced to do over an 8 year period." My post as shown above states "Well don't need another KDEN. Think I'll pass. Thanks Guys, Lets see what comes after KDEN. I can assure you I'm not angry at your airport decision, disappointed, "Yes", but not angry.... Good luck, I hope KDEN is a big success for your company... Looking forward to your next project after KDEN. July 5, 201312 yr Obviously everyone wants their home airport done in FB/FT/FSDT quality. I love MSP area (I actually live and work in Duluth). Now all you Denver/CO-ites can be happy. Hopefully done day MSP will be done by a quality company. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
July 5, 201312 yr Commercial Member Hi Mike, I was simply stating why I didn't choose KSLC, since KSLC was running along side KSMP, RJAA and KDEN in the poll (with legit votes) Each airport has good things about it for production, and bad things. Like I said, I would've been glad to do it IF it had a large amount of votes surpassing other airports. That would have been enough indication that the free updates to it would have been worth it. That simply did not happen. With legit votes not even beating the 3 other airports, clearly not enough market voting for it to justify all the updates I would need to make for it. Very best,
July 5, 201312 yr Hi,I believe "MOST" (myself included) Flightsim users would not expect you to spend 4 months on updating "ANY AIRPORT" and give it away for free. FSDT now has version 2.0 out (KJFK) and has charged their customers a reasonable update fee. A fee that they deserve, a fee that your company would deserve if major updates were performed on any of your products.A small update fee (to your customer base) is not an option for FlightBeam?. I don't think its asking too much from the flight sim community for a reasonable fee for major updates to any addon, especially if your talking four months of work.I don't believe there are any "True" Flightsim enthusiast that would want you to develop an airport (in this case it happens to be KSLC), spend four month updating it for free and then have you go out of business as stated on F/B. As stated earlier, I wish you guys the best with KDEN, I hope its a great success. July 5, 201312 yr I was thinking what major airports are there in the US and even Europe that would be interesting.. and I can't come up with any. What makes an airport interesting is not just the airport...but the entire approach to the zone. Unless we have a scenery or a combination of add on sceneries that brings it all together into the approach and landing zone.. I am really not interested in that airport anymore. During the FS9 days, Flightzone used to provide us that kind of sceneries... Fly Tampas has done that for FSX like their Kai Tak and Dubai. and Juliana. Aerosoft has few like the new Greek Islands they have been putting out. Orbx is good. Either the zone is done along with the airport or there are already other addons that exist to compliment the airport. The KSAN and KLAX is good because there is the So cal from Mega scenery and LA city Catalina Island from Aerosoft...combine all of them, that makes it an awesome zone to fly into. I liked FB's KPHX because I had the Phoenxx area from MegaScenery that had spectacular night city textures along with autogen for the Phoenix area. (It's too bad Megascenery has stopped those good MEgacity scenery) KDEN may not be bad...cause of the mountains closeby and I also have Aerosofts Aspen near by. Just a big airport in the middle of crappy FSX default zone is BORING and I cannot fly into these airports anymore...no matter how good that airport is done. I have stopped buying since it rarely gets used. The default scenery around the Denver area is actually pretty good. But I do see your point. Anyways I have been waiting for a good KDEN and will be purchasing for sure. Matt Wilson
July 5, 201312 yr So many great airports left out there and I think it's a fair place that they start with one of the major hubs that has continued to be neglected. I really feel Orlando needs to be next, but Frontier and United Airlines fans should rejoice over this news! tip of the hat to Flightbeam!

July 6, 201312 yr Yeah really...our niche hobby is small enough. We're lucky there are companies devoted to producing high fidelity scenery to begin with. But to complain about the choice when you have spent $0...it's not like airport scenery in FB quality is just growing on trees these days. Don't like the choice? Then don't buy it. But you don't have to come in here and whine like a child or throw a tantrum on FB. I agree, we're really stuck deep in a "me me me" phase of flight simming. Just enjoy what we DO have and stop being picky. AJ Pongress

July 6, 201312 yr I agree. When ACES closed down FSX development, I remember folks were concerned our hobby was going to die and that no payware developer in their right mind would want to waste their money coding for a dead platform. That was a few years ago, and just look at all the exciting, innovative payware that we can choose from now. I'm so thankful that we have the likes of Flightbeam, PMDG, and others to keep this niche hobby going strong. True, it may seem like some airports that the higher quality developers are working on or have released scenery for recently have already been covered, and covered within the past 2-3 years by a competitor, but I like it because it keeps all the developers on their toes. One could argue that a popular airport could have scenery created for it that is subpar, but you would not want to limit users to buying from that developer as they are the "only game in town". It's an age old fact that competition is good, and we all benefit when the brightest minds are competing for our hard earned dollars! A.J. Domingo

I love MSP, I would of jumped for joy if they chose MSP, it is my hometown airport, it's beautiful. But i'm not complaining one bit, Flightbeam is such a high class company, any airport they put out I am jumping for joy.
