Featured Replies

Guys, where is the official support for DXFixer, I'm having issues with it. Sorry I may have missed it in this thread, and there are no links nor email in the manual.

Thanks,

Dirk.

Good question.

I love the tool and have no issues with it, but I did notice it doesn't appear to come with any contact details for support, and it's product page on the Flight Sim Store also doesn't give any support contact details.     A support contact is essential for payware, so IMHO Steve needs to add this and provide a support means.

Steve is currently active on this forum, and looking into issues that various users are having.

That's not quite the same as having a dedicated and published support contact.   For example, I've not seen a post here by Steve, and I don't know his user name here.....   Not making a fuss or being funny - as I said, I have zero problems with the product and love it - but when you are charging money for something, you need to provide a contact channel for people, to support the product.

Thanks for the link Rich, interesting post that one too.

I 100% agree and can only say sorry.

I hadn't realised that the manual lacked any link to either my blog or my email.  It was an oversight.  I intend to create a forum at the FSS site.

Guys, may I start posting my issues with DX Fixer here then? I know I may well get three bad fingers pointing back at me here.

There's no envmap.bmp, there's only envmap.dds, and I think I know where it is from.

Anyway, what should I try to do here?

Thanks,

Dirk.

Hi Dirk

Sorry you had problems.  Error 2 is file not found - there should normally be an envmap.bmp It looks like on your system it has been changed into a dds.  Do you have any idea how this could have happened?

The installation shouldn't have treated that as a fatal error,  but it was a  unexpected condition to encounter.  I think I have seen someone else with the same problem so there must be some common reason for it.

Maybe it's an idea to start a new topic for your problems in the DX10 subforum: in this topic your problem and the possible answers will probably get lost among all the other replies. You could post a link to that topic here although I think Steve is already keeping an eye on that DX10 forum. Never mind LOL Steve is already on it... ^_^

Unchecking that option fixed the black square runway edge and centerline lights at OMDB, but haven't checked to see of the approach lights are also fixed.

Hi Jim.

I unchecked the option and I still have the parade of black squares @ OMDB. Anything else I can try?

Hi Jim.

When I had the black squares, I was also running the "light bloom" slider (on the same "general" menu) at less than 100 percent. I moved the slider back to full right at the same time that I unchecked the 8bit fix. One of those two changes fixed the black squares on the runway edge lights on my system...

I think we must have been using the same settings! I also toned down the bloom in the DX10 shader. Following your suggestion to put them full right however did not work.

So right now, full right on bloom, unchecked 8-bit fix and I flushed the shader cache with no joy. FT's OMDB still is giving me the black squares for lead in lights.

I did not see any difference whatsoever with DawnDuskSmoothing set to "0".

You need to re-run your test or maybe you were only looking at the wrong time?

Enabled this displays two sets of terrain textures at the same time when at dusk and dawn, the LM and daytime textures so that it is just a "smooth" transition as time passes. When disabled, it will just "jump" from day to LM texture or vice versa during the appropriate time.

Firstly let me clarify that I use ATI, so this refers only to ATI cards and drivers

Good clarification to put in as this is not true of the somewhat better AA and AF of NV cards in DX9.

It might help your fellow simmers that run the ATI cards to post pics of your catalyst settings and those in fixer as well as any other settings in the FS.cfg, there are so many post of users with the same experience that could use your help as well as that from a few others that have found there way.

Cheers!
