October 5, 201312 yr Author One post was before Steves fix....then the other one was to do with the fix cuz after troubleshooting I saw that its what created my issue.... Im new with forums wasn't sure what troll or trolling ment on here, but I gotcha now. wont post on this again definitely. I just want to nail this thing....lol I cant wait to get home and do testing George Kyriazis | www.georgekonline.com
October 5, 201312 yr Troll? Whats that supposed to mean? I know for a fact a tweaked fsx.cfg will still give me my issues.....i have tried every possible .cfg......like i said before i wont be by my sim computer for almost the whole weekend....this is why i cant test right away...i will the second im home. Common guys that's not fair. I have been following Yorgo's threads on this as I have been having the EXACT same issues and I have been playing with all the settings and I am familiar with this issue from the past on an older system... Since trying to fly longer flights in DX10 with my 7970, I get the spikes same as him... Flushed shader caches, virgin FSX.CFG. BP settings of various settings. With and without Highmemfix ect. I am telling you that I have seen several posts from several people having this issue with ATI and DX10 recently and we are all trying to get to the cause and resolution. Facts are I have dozens of hours invested in experimentation trying to nail down settings that cause this. I know that 8xAA in fixer + RadeonPro/CCC set to SuperSample = 8xSSAA and that drives GPU usage into the 90+% range. Then expect the spikes to come a calling. We all know that GPU hitting over 95% GPU usage will cause spikes and corruptions. This is not in question. 8xSSAA is like 8xAA in Fixer+8xSGSS in nvidia land BTW. Anyway, add some clouds with water somewhere nearby and you are immediately at 99% GPU in DX10 mode (not sure this happens to nVidia but they have a different rendering behaviour in terms of Shader Units). Spikes right away. Drop to 4xAA in fixer definitely helps as does lowering other settings like water and such extends the time length before you see the spikes but they will come. But that depends on the scenery you are flying through and what plane you are in. With a somewhat Virgin FSX.CFG in DX10 mode with 4xAA in the fixer and Dense AG and Water at 2xLow and keeping cloud density slider at high instead of Ultra, I can fly for over an hour in the new Duke v2.0 around the ORBX PNW scenery and have no issue but then eventually heading back into Vancouver and Blam I got them. My conclusion currently is that with my 7970, the same settings (FSX.CFG and AA settings) that have always been fine in DX9 are not playing nice in DX10. I monitor my card with MSI Afterburner or RadeonPro and I can tell you that DX10 drives my GPU usage up quite high and eventually leads to spikes. It's an FSX DX10 thing as I have other games people play on my computer that are DX10 and 11 and no problems. One connection is the Unlimited fps setting in FSX and locked externally via RadeonPro as some ATI users do. Using RadeonPro to lock 30 externally in DX9 is fine and results in really good results. DX10 rendering in FSX might not like that. I turned off the external limiter in RadeonPro the other night and set FSX to 30 like I used to long ago and stuck to 4xxAA and I had a long flight without a spike and GPU usage remained allot lower. Have not had time to try this again. Still testing. I am sorry I did not see this whole issue as the ATI guy in the BETA for the DX10 fixer. While I was BETA testing, it was 10 minute stints trying different planes and airports. It was not until after release when I went back to regular flight plans that I started seeing these spikes. That was a few weeks ago. I still want to try Virgin DX10 mode without the fixer. Just have not had time. Charles.
October 5, 201312 yr So hear is my setup for the moment HD79703GB Dx10 with Steves fixer running the Haswell at 4,7GHZ I did a testflight again this evening over NY with FTXG, FSDT KJFK in day and night mode 31minutes with no issues. October 5, 201312 yr Sound LOD effects the fsx sound cone. For example addons like Flight 1 AI sound module won't work, and the soon to be released PMDG T7 5.1 surround sound pack won't work either. It is there for very low end systems like a Pentium cpu, and is not needed. October 6, 201312 yr Just want to confirm that the calculated MAX_TEXTURE_DATA=667, along with a calculated TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=65 and a frame limit of 31 gave ~3-7 frames lower than the normal TBM of 120 and no MTD in the cfg. Tested at 1500', circling Anacotes, FS Global RW. Frames were also lower by ~3-5 when using Bloom. October 6, 201312 yr Author .id get over DX10 a lot faster if i could get a constant 45frames in that area with maxed out stuff.....UTX, GEX, REX, Genisis Meshes aswell etc[/quote] You're running a 4, or 4.4-gig proc, Yorgos: When you get those "over 45 frames" - please - publish your full FSX and GPU control settings, along with all of your hardware vendor info, drivers, etc., and OS type and optimization settings, as I don't get those frames - constant frames - nor even 30 constant frames, and I don't know anyone else that does. In fact I don't believe anyone does, as no-one here is satisfied with default graphics, aircraft, scenery, cities, mesh, weather, AI, AA, clouds, shadowing...... pj If you could see what I was replying too and can understand my sarcasm it would be great before you mock me. October 6, 201312 yr Gents, After another test day i am pretty sure this issue has something to do with water settings. I did a testflight in Scotland with FTX Europe,L39 and after 15 minutes up north were there is pretty much low on autogen but plenty of water with low x 2 settings and these issues begin. Now after this i just did a 1 hour VFR in the L-39 albatroz EGLL-London city 1000feet 5 times circling-EGHI-EGKK-London Circling twice - EGLL 27R still with my old settings in this topic including a 10 minut replay with FSRecorder and no issues at all (water is low x 1 ) So ? any ideer . Hopefully we can nail down this issue Michael Moe Michael Moe
October 6, 201312 yr Yes, seems to be the water settings alright, Lowered my settings to low x 1, flew for 40 mins or so and no spikes or graphic corruptions. I will try more locations and longer flights today, well done Michael, hope this is the problem area. The three water shader settings in dx10 fixer may have a lot to do with it, im not going to change those yet (as I don't fully understand there influence). I had almost given up and was heading back to dx9. will report back later today, spikes or no spikes, lol.
October 6, 201312 yr Based upon input I received from Steve I too have been "adjusting on/off" different DX10SF settings. My last flight had both cloud and water shaders turned off, and I did not get any artifacts. I am going back in and ONLY will have water shader turned off. EDIT: I also have buffer pools turned on. _________________________________________________________________________ Bob "roadwarrior" Werab Config: ASUS Prime Motherboard, RYZEN 5, 32 GB Ram, Radeon RX5700 XT, 2 TB SSD
October 6, 201312 yr Just for the record I do not see this problem and seriously doubt it has anything to do with water or DX10 settings. I have the DX10 Fixer installed with water... well, with everything turned on. I have absolutely no tweaks installed. No Bufferpools, no, affinity mask stuff, nothing. Just have my LOD_Radius set to 6.5 and my Texture_Max_Load set at 2048. Did a flight this morning from LAX to Phoenix and got between 65 - 85 fps (a tiny bit of stuttering though but it's hard to see it. Me thinks it's one of those tweaks people employ in their configs. I'll have to say I have my DX10 AA set at 32x's in the DX10 Controller and that threw in a couple of tweaks because I did that.... [GRAPHICS] MultiSamplesPerPixel=8MultiSampleQuality=24 I'll leave them in for a while unless I see something unfavorable with my flights. Right now everything is crystal clear graphics. I really think it's the scenery you are flying over or around. London, Heathrow, that area of the world is notorious for being memory hogs. Some of that scenery was made for previous versions of flight simulator too. Some of it may not be compatible or fully compatible with FSX and DX10. If you flew around all other areas of the world and saw the same problem (spikes) then you might have a problem but I can almost assure you it is not DX10. Sent from my SGH-I747M using Tapatalk now Free Ya Firehawk44 this is an ATI+FSX DX10 issue for sure. I know no one with an NVidia card having this right now. October 7, 201312 yr OK, I followed a routine of turning off ALL DX10SF options and uninstalling the libraries. Then I went back in reinstalled the libraries and one by one tested each of the shader options. It seems to me (and I am FAR from being an expert or really knowledgable about FSX DX10) that there is an issue with Water_Effects being set too high. I am not using the Water Shader and my Water_effects are set at Low 2.x or in the FSX.CFG = 4. I have NOT had any artifacts day or night sense reducing the water effects and not using the water shader option in DX10SF. If someone can challenge, explain or otherwise identify the/a corrective action - please do so. Thanks.....and I still believe the DX10SF is the best thing that has happened to FSX DX10 "Preview"!!! _________________________________________________________________________ Bob "roadwarrior" Werab Config: ASUS Prime Motherboard, RYZEN 5, 32 GB Ram, Radeon RX5700 XT, 2 TB SSD
