P3D V2 Pre Release Questions for Lockheed

Featured Replies

Traditionally, flight simulators are quite forgiving about both wrong ground movements (in reality ground control would shout STOP when  you enter the wrong taxiway) and airspace invasions (you go basically where you want, you can even cross the final approach path at JFK with your 172 and nobody will complain.

Have you implemented (or are going to in a future release), maybe in your professional version, a stricter control on what us crazy pilots do? Perhaps a switchable control would be the best choice. I think it would add a lot to the training value of your product.

We've seen and heard a lot about this "Animation Limit" that developers have to put up with when creating aircraft, the result of which has caused many a developer to be unable to implement, for example, rain droplets on the virtual cockpit windows.

Does P3DV2 do away with this animation limit, or does it still exist?

Have airports / navaids been updated to the current state?

Will the startup screen, as shown in the DirectX 11 developer blog, include more functionality at release, like flight plan creation and graphics settings?

Im in total agreement with the rest. Thank you for this opportunity to be open to avsim members and the FSX community!

One of the most annoying things in FSX is the wind and pressure shifts that have been long touted as a bug. While 3rd party weather programs have surpressed it, it hasnt eradicated them and its usually at the cost of less realism from the actual real world weather. Have you been able to address this?

As CPU multi-threading will be much more robust, in theory would it be more beneficial to have an 8 core AMD (i.e. FX-83xx) or a 4-core Intel (i.e. i7-47xx or i5-45xx ).

You may want to go over and checkout Active Sky forum on their proposed new weather system. I believe it will be working with version 2.0 as Word Not Allowed has done a quick overview over at his wordpress site.

How are Prepar3d updates in the future going to be managed?

Currently with each new "point" version launch we have to reinstall from scratch. Will this continue to be the practice, or is there an updater that could be used to make this an easier process?

I heared that the professional version would include weapon simulation. If this is true, would we see something similar as DCS world in Prepar3D v2?

Our weakest link in FSX Today with all the amazing addons we cannot do without is the limitation of the 32bit. OOM limit.

How much of the issues of OOMs has been addressed directly and/or indirectly?

What are the plans for pricing? Previous version had a pricing I have yet to understand, so I am very curious whether you will have a monthly price or one time price.

What users with hardware configurations more "modest" can expect from V 2.0, older hardware will seem new?
An example of modest hardware = Phenom II X6 2.8ghz, ATI 6970 2gb, 8gb ram
