P3D V2 Pre Release Questions for Lockheed

Featured Replies

I haven't used p3d  since 1.3, sorry if this is addressed in 1.4 I cant see it is.

Will p3d v2 natively support trackir or will 3rd party apps, e.g. ezydok still be required to use it?

FSX's biggest drawback to me is the lack of realistic ATC. As I understand third party add-on ATC has to work without reference to AI traffic as the SDK is closed.

Are there plans to open up the ATC SDK to third party developers to allow development of a truly immersive ATC program that is up to the standards we've come to expect of the top tier scenery and aircraft releases?

Will it use up all my RAM thereby preventing OOMs?

First let me say a huge thank you to the whole team for extending the future.

I remember reading that v2.0 will make better use of multi-monitor setups. For those using multi-monitors who spread a single view across say three screens horizontally. What if anything, has been done to compensate for the fisheye distortion that is synonymous with stretching the view in this way?

Were any of the BETA testers using AMD cards? Previously stated on your website was that P3D was AMD Eyefinity Gold certified. Any issues with AMD on the new build?

With a $400 card (R9 290) that matches or beats the GTX780 in DX11 arriving in the etailer channels by December 15th, it would be a really strong card for P3D being that it is an eyefinity monster and if V2.0 is in fact DX11 Driven and also "tested" on current AMD drivers for any small glitches, could be a go to card for this new platform.

Charles.

Again thank you for taking the time to answer some of the many questions that we have and for providing a continued future with an advancing platform.

I have heard rumours of an advanced set of tools for both aircraft developers and scenery makers. Would you care to give us an insight of where you see your team and the 3rd Party Developers taking this platform over the next few years please?

Regards, Dave B

Do you plan on makeing Prepar3D  more affordable for the everyday simmer? I mean $200 is expensive for a flight sim and not alot of people are going to want to pay a monthly subscription.

User Interface Question for Addon scenery.

Could we expect a better way to move addon scenery in groups or sub folders and select and deselect blocks of addon  scenery (Folders).    Currently when we have a long list of addons, its tedious  to move a block of scenery up or down. We have to do this  one by one. and we have to "select and unselect" sceneries one by one instead of by groups/Blocks/folder

Will I be able to use my Mad Catz/Saitek hardware with P3D v2?  Things like Combat Rudder Pedals, Cessna Yoke and large trim wheel, dual throttles, Switch Panels, Multi-Panels, and especially the newer Flight Instrument Panels (FIPs).  Other common items like the Saitek x52 throttle and Flight stick.

Where does Lockheed see Prepar3D 5 years from now? Will development fade away as it did for FSX? Or will Lockheed continue to support this product in the years to come as technology and PC hardware advances?

Do the questions have to be just about V2? I see a lot of people asking questions about things coming up in the future and not about V2 itself.

Will LM provide Prepar3d only as a "basic engine" to be filled with content by add-on developers, or are there plans to make P3D an "all-inclusive" simulator?

(added with more accurate scenery and up-to-date graphics)
