Interesting to say the least. One wonders how much a viable P3D license will cost. This is apparently in addition to the "FSX license" 777 owners have now, and that post makes that license sound like the most inexpensive... we might be talking a LOT of money to use the 777 in P3D. At least we'll have the option though.

Overall I'm happy to hear this, because PMDG was clearly the "dividing line" between a dichotomous sim community and a community that can move on with the next simulation platform.

I had a sneaking suspicion that negotiations might be underway behind the scenes to make this possible. And, I certainly can't blame PMDG for playing their cards close to their vest on this matter until now.

This will certainly spur an even bigger shift away from FSX and towards P3DV2 (and XP too) than what was already anticipated!

Maybe the General Study license won't be so expensive. We shall see! :)

Not keen on buying a P3d license for the 777...cant afford that and p3d, hopefully my 777 FSX licensed edition will simply be made compatable.

My gosh I just had a heart attack when I got the email from a PMDG post!! I cant believe it. Fantastic news. Thank you so much RSR and PMDG and to all involved to make it happen. Prepar3d just got that much better!!

I'm assuming PMDG's General Training and Study License is similar to LM's current license that allows anyone to declare themselves a developer, therefore an academic, therefore a customer.

This announcement and its hopeful implementation will hopefully spur a migration to P3DV2 from most of the simmers in the community.  Wouldn't it be great to have almost all simmers utilizing one platform and having all individual developers and development shops supporting a single product. That would truly transform P3DV2 to an amazing experience that we have all wished for.

Awesome news! I too am worried about the pricing though...

Awesome news! I too am worried about the pricing though...

Before we all start fretting about the pricing, we should 1) be thankful we'll even have the option at all and 2) wait and see what it turns out to be. Any way you slice it, this is a win for flight simming as a whole. 'Divided we fall' and all that rot... :P

This makes me a very happy guy.  Normally I do not like to shell out for products like this on two fronts (FSX and P3D) but PMDG is indeed that good.  I fly the 737 NGX and 777 more than any other aircraft... and I am really excited to now be able to do it on P3D.

I am hoping they can perhaps offer some sort of break to customers who have already purchased the items on FSX... perhaps not, but one can hope :)

Yes folks... Prepar3d 2.0 literally just got much better.  This is the future of flight sim!

Look on the bright side... no more annoying threads strated where a poster laments at the absence of PMDG from Prepar3d 2.0.

And the hits just keep on coming. My sincere thanks and appreciation to all involved in making P3D Version 2.0 available and to those involved that insured PMDG will finally be able to be compatible with P3D. What a great day for the flight simmer community.

Who wants to now take FSX behind the barn and shoot it?
