And it's now June, still no update (even though the developer told me via email that it would be done in two or three weeks back in March), and if you try to complain about it in their forum, your post either gets deleted or the thread locked.

This is straight out of the 80's customer support rulebook for software companies!

I really really wanted to purchase this software, but now I'm quite convinced that I never will. No because of the quality of it or it's possible features, but because if there is one thing I cannot stand for is a poor (almost dictatorial) customer support...

Honestly, I can only feel sorry for people that paid 50 euros, and are still waiting for over a year now for their issues to be addressed...

As a member of support for proatcx I would just like to state that proatcx certainly does support its customers and either Dom or myself are answering support questions every day around the clock.

so if you ask for advice in the proatcx forum you will certainly get the advice.

with pbar stating that posts are deleted or locked, as a moderator I will do that only when the content of the post is disrespectful towards others in the forum , including towards the developer or myself, or when forum rules are broken.

Yes the update has been a long time coming and no doubt has been a talking pointin the proatcx forum as well as in this forum.

This is a major update and you will like it....... and I am asking you to wait for us to finish testing it at which stage it will be released.

+1 Good things sometimes take time!

That said, I for one will hold off until I see the update before buying either VOX or Pro ATC X. I supported Virtual Simulation's TacPac Pre-Order, but that was because of their stellar track record and the concept was a one of a kind project and they delivered - hands down! :Applause:

Roy,

As I've already stated at the PATC forum, the problem isn't the support, on which you do excel tremendously.

The problem is just that unsatisfied users cannot voice their discontempt. Currently there are two options for that:

- Post it in the forum (but the threads either get closed or posts deleted - and I believe when you say that they are deleted for a good reason)

- Email the developer, which I think isn't a good idea anyway given that if the developer is using his time to finish the update, he shouldn't be spending his time calming down angry customers on a one-by-one basis.

Costumer complaints are part of software support, and they should not be ignored...

For most of what I have read in the PATC forum, paying users just want a simple "hello" from the developer, just stating that indeed he is working and that he will deliver the goods. No need to reveal any "secrets".

If Mourad doesn't want to spend a mere 2 minutes ONCE just doing that, (which is a very simple and effective way to do public relations) I really cannot blame the people that feel ripped off and ignored.

Can you?

Again, you do a great job at supporting users, but you do have to take in that you are also the "face" of the company in the absence of Mourad, wether you like it or not.

I do not own the software, and I won't, but on behalf of those paying users who might feel "betrayed", please ask Mourad to post in the forum. It's not a big ask is it?

And it will certainly do wonders for the image of the product.

Like I also said, I believe that Pro-ATC does seem to be what we have all been waiting for, a proper ATC for FSX.

But not yet. Simple issues like the occasional failure to get a TOD clearance are a total disruption.

But now it's a bit too late for me, because I don't have much money to spend on my hobby, and I've gone elsewhere for ATC.

All the best Roy.

When is that Radar Contact update coming out?

Edit: Oops, did not realize this was a six month old thread (well except for the last two replies).  Question still stands though.

I don't believe there is going to be an update for RC.

Does it need one ?, what ATC procedures have changes recently ?

ProATC does not even follow real world ATC phraseology, what use is that to anyone.

Yes, it does need one to fix bugs and add new features, perhaps a non robotic voice would be nice too.  I thought maybe things changed and might be getting new features like the ones that were due in RC5.  Guess not...

I don't believe there is going to be an update for RC.

That is a shame, I seriously would consider it if there were an update coming.  I will likely get VOXATC, at least the developer works on it.

I use VOX almost exclusively now. Like all ATC programs, it has its' quirks, but it gets me to my destination 95% of the time with no problems. Try the demo first.

I will.

BTW, the reason why I am concerned about future updates/support is eventually I will be switching to P3D.  I know that VOX, RC4, and ProATC will work with P3D right now, but I will not be switching until P3D is 64 bit.  No real advantage (IMO) to switching now, I have everything working fine except ATC.

I have never understood why folks consider RC's voices to be "robotic". They are all humans, laboriously recorded by volunteers. One of them is a friend of mine and sounds exactly like him, and he is not a robot.

Maybe the system being used is a bit overloaded and some parts sound disjointed? If that's what you mean by "robotic" then you shoul consider running it on a networked PC rather than on the FS PC. That has the additional advantage of allowing the ATC voices to be sent to a different speaker, such as headset or overhead.

Some users claim that the distortions added in the "Meatwater" versions of the sound files makes them sound less "robotic", but to me they just make them almost unintelligible, especially on a headset.

Robotic voices are those synthesized from text, as used by VOXATC. Some of the more expensive ones can almost sound human, but are still caught out by weird mispronunciations.

Yea I agree I seen and heard all the utubes out  there on these atc addons  and they all sound  the same  so saying  one is more robotic than the other is not quite right

What bugs? Please expand on your concerns.

New features would have been nice but John Dekker decided he wanted to spend more time with his family so stopped v5 development. That situation may change but only John knows for certain.

Have you listened to RC voices on a networked install? The voices certainly don't sound robotic to me. How I tire of people using that word. They are real humans who recorded their voice sets. Try running RC4 on a separate PC to FS. You might be surprised at how fluid the voices are.

I think Pete D had it right with his description of RC voices when he says disjointed. Outside of this, it is an excellent program. Any other problems ( so called) are as far as I am concerned, personal preferences.

As far as pure ATC procedure goes, all three (RC, VOX & PFE) are very good. I think that with all of them, the voice side of things is maybe the biggest candidate for improvement, but so far the best in that department has to be PFE.

Regards,

Edit: I use VOX and love it by the way.
