January 8, 201412 yr A few things that hold me back from getting P3d. 1 ) still based on the "FSX engine" but yes with a lot of things added and with better performance 2 ) heard Vatsim / Ivao don't work 3 ) Will it run brilliantly on my current system without any issues like VAS etc... 4 ) will my NL2000 scenery run without buying a software to migrate it. January 8, 201412 yr Simmers just make me laugh sometimes. Why does it always have to be either this or that... One or the other... life or death! Why not use both? Heck, I have every version of MS Flight Simulator on my two main PC's (that's right 10 complete versions running), plus P3Dv1.4 and P3Dv2. In your post you say it's because of addons that are not compatible so keep FSX humming along nicely with your addons. No one here is saying you can't do that (though sometimes it feels that way). And if you are inclined to be an early adopter embrace what P3D has to offer. Because I can tell ya from my experience over the years in the wonderful hobby it is gonna take not a few P3D patches but months into a few years before you see all our nice addons working full on this new platform. So for those who just can't hold out (with sweaty palms thnkin' "what should I do-what should I do"), stick your toe in the water and have fun watching the ripples. But keep your fav airplane or airport running on your other platform. And don't worry, we are humans, we have the capacity to do more than one thing at a time! Here's to a great hobby! I don't think I have ever seen it so rationally or so elegantly stated. Cheers. "For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return." -Leonardo da Vinci (some experts question the attribution, but I'll go with it for now.)

I don't think people in here really want to hear why people are "being" held back from getting P3Dv2. In fact this forum is for those that have moved forward and are at least using this platform alone, or both platforms together. Quite frankly, it is getting quite tiresome listening to those who don't want to change, especially those that come in here time after time and say the same old same old - and don't get me wrong, I am not saying you in particular. Nobody is asking anybody to change, therefore, why do we (who have made a concious decision to try the platform) have to constantly listen to the bleating of those that either can't, or don't want to be, bothered trying this sim out? Please - what am I missing here?

I am a P3D user and wish to read comments from fellow P3D users regarding P3D experiences. I have absolutely no interest in hearing why someone is not going to purchase P3D today. January 8, 201412 yr if you dont mind pulling your hair out manully editing cfg's, dll's, getting joysticks to work, blank black screens, C++ ctds, ctds when clicking on look down, then go ahead and install it... a week in im beggining to think LM should of just kept it basic to train military staff instead of making a buck off "simmers" too, although saying that their customer service is ok, and I also remember going through all this when fsx came out after fs9...

January 8, 201412 yr ah this old chestnut, said like a true IT guy... look at the p3d forumns and this one, plenty of people have the problems as well as people who dont. And its not too technical at all. Id love to tell the passengers who are on one flight with a 3 delay that all the other 900 flights we are running today are on time, alas customer service doesnt work like that. However if 450 are late and another 450 are one time, you have a problem... sorry mate
January 8, 201412 yr I'm surprised no one has commented on the price of P3DV2. I've tried it out and while the potential is obvious no way is it worth $200 in it's present state. gb. YSSY. January 8, 201412 yr Your repeated posts about this while nobody replies disagreeing with you certainly seems less than constructive. If there are addon's you need in order to enjoy your simming that will only work in FSX, by all means, stay there. Nobody is holding a gun to your head, saying you should switch. I have stated it twice. The second time was a response to jabloomf1230's post regarding people becoming frustrated when new toys don't work (which I assumed to be a suggested reason why people like me are afraid to take the plunge). Please do not think that I am "having a go" at P3D because of this. I am keen to see what LM can do in the future, but I do not want to make the switch until I know that it will be worth it for me. That is all that I was implying. January 8, 201412 yr The problem with this decision for me is very similar to what I have encountered in my other hobby, photography. Let's say I want to switch from say Nikon to Canon DSLR equipment (digital single-lens reflex), or vice-versa. Not only do I have to buy a new engine (camera body), I also have to spend a multiple of that expense on add-ons to complete the transition. New lenses, new dedicated flash units, new remote shutter releases, etc. And if I have pro-level lenses (or sophisticated higher cost aircraft in the case of flight simulation) and want to reach the same level after the transition, then it really adds up fast. My outlay for camera lenses and accessories is approximately 8X what I spent for the camera bodies. My outlay on FSX add-ons might be 40X or 50X what I paid for FSX. That does not include video cards and the like as for me those are not solely driven by flight simulation. Anyway, all of that for an increment of difference that is so small? And to a flight sim engine that comes at this time with its own inherent problems? January 8, 201412 yr My outlay on FSX add-ons might be 40X or 50X what I paid for FSX. I haven't had to pay anything extra for my addons as most are migrating over to new P3D installers for free (in other cases the Estonia migration tool has worked great). Having patience while this happens has been the hardest part!
