An Interesting Future for Outerra

There was mention about all areas of Outerra looking the same, but I don't feel that at all.

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

  • Well, Outerra has had only one variety of flora (pines) for quite some time, but have little birdies seen the future?

  • I think of it this way: there are two approaches to making a sim, particularly a flight sim. One is you make the planes and the things that go with the planes, and paste a somewhat satisfactory sketch

Yes, this is a problem I have thought about in regards to the world-models library from World2XPlane. Most of the models are deliberately low poly and low detailed so that X-Plane can handle better adding thousands of them. Once you get up close to some of the models, the textures become blurry, but most of them look good when you are 100ft or so above them

I've been looking through the library. Its gotten mind-numblingly huge in a very short time!

Thanks Tom! I think at this point Outerra really does deserve to be taken as a real up and coming possibility. Something like this will also likely give impetus to others to take note as well.

Oh there is plenty of us keeping note.

It's NOT A FLIGHTSIM and it'll never be. It's an engine, more precisely, planetary engine. Its purpose is to render the planet from the ground up to space and support all the necessary technology around it. It's just a foundation, the core. What will you build with it is up to game designers, but first, engine itself with its tools have to be developed.

It this possible, that for example Prepar3d which has an other Engine,

that the Code of Prepar3d could move to Outerra?

Do you know what I am trying to say?

It is just Prepar3d V2.3 in Outerra engine, just moved from the old engine to the new one (Outerra)

it is possible or has LM to do a rework to make it compatible?

this is not possible. the code for prepar3d is closed source meaning only employees of LM have access to it. besides it would be pretty pointless to have such code because outtera uses an open source code for flying(i think)

On the other hand, since Flightgear also uses JSBSIM, there are things that might be transferable with some modification. I am thinking specifically of systems and flight models. Bomber seems to be leading that effort.....

Levi and Bombers collaborative project. Flapping its way to a screen near you! Hopefully soon. And not really flapping!

Wow... But I don't think I want my glider to have such flexible wings! LOL

... i see, it's time again to start digging into proper 3d modelling again or generating some proper facades   ..., but: Where to take sufficient time from ... :(

Anyways i am really confident that the community will find proper ways to manage this task - and with talented people involved such as You Tony and many, many others i am sure more and more proper models will appear in Outerra rather sooner than later - an i am also sure that there will be donations comming in as well, once it is all (Outerra in this case) getting even better known to a broader flightsimmer-audience and the broader flightsimmer's public!

And i mean:

Hey! - Outerra has its own unofficial support forum at AVSIM now, which is really fantastic!

Well then:

Let's go flying!

Enjoy flying and happy landings.
