Orbx Releases FTX: NA Gold USA Northern California

Featured Replies

You beat me to it!

Price looks good and it uses the new FTX Global 3d lights!

The price looks even better, considering these are 300.000 sq km or 115.000 sq miles. Don't mix it up with FTX Northern Ireland, guys!!!

And ORBX are back to custom mesh again.

FTX global is great for what it does, but in no way does it compare to a full region. Especially not this one!

The enhanced airports, landmarks and photoreal areas are worth the money alone. After some exploring last night down the I5 corridor, I think this is the best produced region yet. Very polished. I had a 'wow' moment when I finally arrived at San Francisco area.

And just think how much better that will be when they release their San Franscisco City freeware package later this year!

Let me know how Eureka looks!

Will do, Gregg.  I ended up not getting to fly it last night.  The DL and install went pretty quickly, but by the time I loaded and unloaded the appropriate photo things and decided to modify my original KSBA to KACV plans to KSBA - KRHV (Reid Hillview, an airport I've landed at), my evening was pretty much gone.  Hopefully will get to fly a couple of legs tonight and get up to Eureka.  Then I think I'll head back east towards Lassen and into Susanville.

About a year ago, I would have purchased this from the get go, but a lot has changed since then. So I am keen to see some shots from those who have bought it to convince me it is worth the US $40.. I mean, I have FTX Global, so how much extra will this bring to the table, say, than waiting for FTX Vector??

Vector is out already.

If I purchase this product:

Is it the same as or compatiable with global and global vector?

Do I/will I still need OpenLC for this area when OpenLC is released?

Thanks!

No you wont need that for any region purchase as they are 'full fat"

Are any of you experiencing OOM's like crazy with all these ORBX add on?

Chris Camp

No. In fact, in over 7 years with fsx I have never seen an OOM

I bought it hours after release. I highly recommend this. It seems Orbx will be updating downtown SanFran in the near future at no cost to owners of this region.

Huge, diverse and beautiful. No brainer, especially if you like it low and slow.

Concerning OOMS,,,,  not with this release.  I flew out of Half Moon Bay toured the city headed north to Napa and beyond and returned through Oakland flying under Golden Gate (Hope nobody was watching) and back to a nice rendition, curiosity of Ed and Neil, of Half Moon. I could almost smell the Pancakes from Three Zero café.  Only thing missing was the Wine train in Napa (that one was for my wife). and did I say Smooth as can be.

Enjoy Flying again P3Dv2.1

Actually, I'd say OOMs are certainly a potential issue for DX9 FSX users. Just had one on approach to KSFO in the NGX. I was using FS2Crew, too, which was probably just asking for trouble...

It's lovely stuff, really (KSFO approach with the night lights of the city was just spectacular) but OOMs are lurking for those of us who like to fly the heavies.
