How many FPS do you get in your Fsx?

Featured Replies

Smoothness is what I like, and turn off fps counter. See it shutter too much move setting down to it's natural sweetspot. FSX is smoother than FS2004 but smoothness in eye of beholder. Just fly and stop hitting shift-z

Already been beaten to death  this subject,  don't know why  people are so worried about the fps  for

  • First of all I have frame rates set up within fsx at 30.  The old story about getting 40, 50, 60 frame rates and so on is a myth about fsx.   My advise is don't get obsessed on how many frame rates

I agree FPS doesn't matter it's actually smoothness that does. Either way, w/out traffic I sit around 40 FPS but with I get about 25-30.

Like to know what your pc  specs are to get 100  using pmdg aircraft

It's not hard and i wonder why some people are surprised with that. I can get that as well in some situations if i remove the VSYNC setting from my video card configuration.

You  missed out the rest of the sentence, and changed the context.

Nowhere did I say I was using PMDG aircraft.  I said in the Lancair.

This was the complete paragraph, including the bit yout missed out. Look for the full stop.

Last night, my frame rate counter read 100 fps, with zero stutters. Even with PMDG aircraft and ASN weather, I see greater than 30 frames per second most of the time.

i7 3770K at 4.5 GHz

Corsair Dominator GT 8GB 2133 MHz.

EVGA GTX 770 Duel Bios 4GB SC.

BenQ 120 Hz monitor.

FSX sliders set SENSIBLY! Especially the frame rate killers.

Frame rate limiter set to unlimited for a BIG increase in frame rate.

No hyper detailed airport add-ons, just GEX, UTX, ASN. 100 FPS was in the Lancair. ASN was generating moderate weather.

BP = 0

AF = 14

Antialiasing set sensibly.

I can't emphasis enough, how important it is to occasionally test conventional wisdom. With FSX sliders set very sensibly, running with no frame rate limiter at all was a revelation. A huge increase in frame rate, and no stutters. Might not work for you, but do try it and find out.

I lock my fps at 1/2 my monitor's refresh rate, so I lock at 30 fps in the sim.

Flyer...

Your headmovement looks pretty smooth....but what about the rest? While taxiing it looked quite stuttery. Or is it just the video?

I get 7. Sometimes it drops to 5. That's with ALL sliders @ 0. Lovely jaggies, loads of stuttering, black screens and OOMs. I have every tweak from Bojote onwards. Wouldn't have it any other way! B)

Actually its not even the video. Playing back the MP4 on my machine they are smooth but once its uploaded to Youtube and streamed the stutters are added are added.

Flyer10 those frames are to smooth!!!!

LOL Priceless!

MSFS

Actually I should qualify that last remark about the MP4 playback being perfectly smooth. Just like in the sim the MP4 playback is smooth and virtually stutter free so long as the 30fps is maintained. That NGX taxi at KLAX Vid has the sliders at ridiculous, 100% airline traffic and a nasty storm was all about showing of the i7 4770k at 5ghz and as you can see there are times the FPS drops as low about 20 but only for a second or two and as it drops below 30 as it gets lower the stutters get worse but I don't use those setting all the time. But my Sim is perfectly fluid and 100% stutter locked at 30fps with the 1/2 refresh rate with the sliders a healthy distance to the right. Now that depends on you hardware but as I said if you set you slider at a level that maintains 30FPS locked and you have an Nvidia card and use the 1/2 refresh rate there is not reason why you shouldn't be see a virtually stutter from sim

First of all I have frame rates set up within fsx at 30.  The old story about getting 40, 50, 60 frame rates and so on is a myth about fsx.

My advise is don't get obsessed on how many frame rates you get, be obsessed about the smoothness of the sim, and those crazy microstutters.

Look there is no computer in the world, than can play fsx, with all settings to the right, including autogen extremely dense, airline traffic 100%, and cars at 100%, max clouds, and a couple of other frame killers.

This is a topic that will never end

Absolute  nonsense. I do it every time I fly, as do others in this thread.

Of course not. That much is well known. Maybe your first paragraph should have read, it's a myth with max sliders. It certainly isn't with sensible sliders. Why on Earth do you need max sliders?

Who needs all sliders all the way to the right?

It sure looks good for all those  guys who aim to post a photolike screenshot to show us how good their FSX looks...they never mention their frames at 12-15 FPS though...

My FSX might look a little worse but with the result of 60 FPS and smooth motion in all situations. I'd prefer that over photoreal scenery.

When i want a photoreal experience, i shut down my PC, get to the airport and go flying....

Over time my performance has decreased but the feeling and quality of the Simulator has increased to new levels.

I recall installing FSX with FTXGlobal and Aerosofts ENVA hitting 90FPS in the Default Cessna in VC in DX10. Now after installing Regions by FTX/ORBX,SHADE,PMDG,REX,ASN and so on (lately all the great VC shadows in VC ) those days are gone.

Yesterday i found my self in the mid twentys around YMML dropping to 20 for a second in the PMDG T7 but smooth and so beautiful thinking where did my FPS go ? . This was with fair weather and Dense Settings.

As long as its smooth it is working for me
