April 8, 201412 yr Well, I must be one of the lucky ones as I didn't delete anything prior to patching and the patch seems to have taken without issue. Me neither. Deleting those folders is going to wack any addons installed. I can understand deleting them for a clean install. Those are the same as FSX to perform a complete clean install. But not to update.
April 8, 201412 yr I did have to re-run my FS Dreamteam add-on manager but had no issues with FSUIPC or Ezdoc or anything in the .xml going bad. It is odd how some seem to be able to patch and others have to do a clean install... 10+ Gigs vs 108 MB I feel it for those who have to download from scratch. RE Thomason Jr.
April 8, 201412 yr I did have to re-run my FS Dreamteam add-on manager I'm having the same problem with FS Dreamteam (airports). What do you mean by re-run the addon manager? Is this a standalone version? Thanks!
April 8, 201412 yr I did not do a clean install. The sim is crashing before it get fully loaded. Rebooted, deleted the P3D.cfg but no joy. guess I do clean install Tuesday.
April 8, 201412 yr What can I say V2.2 is spectacular. More experimentation and flying and addons going in tomorrow. But just vanilla it is incredible. Only A company like LM could do this. Microsoft could never have achieved this. This represents the end of the FS dark ages if you ask me :Applause: :Applause: :Applause: :American Flag:
April 8, 201412 yr Took off from Cleveland at night all was dark under an overcast with rain. Blackish. (settings = 6 layers in ASN/REX4) Then Then I cleared through at 6000 feet and wow there was still some nice brilliant blue and red sunset to enjoy !! What a surprise
April 8, 201412 yr If your OS is installed on C: drive (Lockheed Martin's main P3D installation location is not relevant here). And replace "Rob" with whatever name you gave your OS user account. Example: C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2 C:\Users\Rob\AppData\Local\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2 C:\Users\Rob\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2 C:\Users\Rob\Documents\Prepar3D v2 Files Installation instructions are on LM's web site here: http://www.prepar3d.com/Prepar3D_Download_and_Install_Instructions_v2.pdf Cheers, Rob. Rob, I never deleted those for the patch 2.1 install and all has been well. I just now installed 2.2 by patch, install went fine, but performance is in the toilet by comparison. Is it ok to uninstall these folders after applying the 2.2 patch do you know? Bummer! Something's amiss but I have no clue and frankly didn't expect this. I can start w/ deleting prepared.cfg if needed... Addendum: i rebuilt p3d.cfg but this did not help. It appears it's the new cloud shadowing that is involved I think. Just TO out of CYPW in dense clouds in the Turbine Duke--in 2.1 that was solid around 50 frames or higher--now 18-20? Horrendous deterioration in cloud performance! What's up on this--is it that shadows take their toll (that's a ginormous toll)? April 8, 201412 yr I'm having the same problem with FS Dreamteam (airports). What do you mean by re-run the addon manager? Is this a standalone version? Thanks! Just re-download the addon manager (it says FSX version but is for P3d)... as you say the stand alone version... run it and the error message will go away! i9 13900KF @ 5.5Ghz | MoBo MSI PRO Z690-A WiFi | Corsair Vengeance Black RGB RS 64gb DDR4 3200MHz | MSI GeForce RTX 5090 Vanguard SOC 32GB | MP33 Pro 1TB M.2-2280 NVME SSD for OS | Samsung 870 QVO 2.5" 4TB SSD SATA2 | Samsung 990 PRO 2TB | Corsair RM1000X 2021 1300W 80 Plus Gold PSU | Antec Dark Fleet DF700 Flux Gaming Case | Win 11 home | Samsung 65" 4K TV | G512 Keyboard | Razer Basilisk V2 Mouse | WinCtrl URSA MINOR 32 Throttle Metal / 32 PAC Metal | WinCtrl Ursa Minor Sidestick |Velocity One Rudder | MiniCockpit FCU and EFIS | WinCtrl MCDU | Stream Deck XL | Tobii Eye Tracker | Pimax Crystal Light | Doug
April 8, 201412 yr As I sugggest in my original post, backup those 4 directories first. 1. Backup 4 directories 2. Apply 2.2 patch 3. Delete 4 directories 4. Start P3D 5. Setup display settings to your liking 6. Exit P3D EDIT: You'll need to reconfigure your controllers as there are differences from 2.1 to 2.2 in Standard.XMLX file. Now you can copy these files back from your backup (your OS drive and user will be different): DLL.XML - copy to C:\Users\Rob\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2 EXE.XML - copy to C:\Users\Rob\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2 scenery.cfg - copy to C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2 Do NOT copy your old Prepar3D.cfg back. Manually go thru your Prepar3D.cfg and edit as needed ... the only things I change are: InfoBrakesEnable=False InfoParkingBrakesEnable=False InfoPauseEnable=False InfoStallEnable=False InfoOverspeedEnable=False I'm currently NOT using NI to make any changes ... and also updated to 337.50 nVidia Beta drivers. What a noticed in the release 2.2 different from my 2.2 beta is the Terrain shadow cast distance ... didn't have this option so never tested it. I typically don't have Terrain shadows enabled ... but I thought I would try this setting in 2.2 release and it cut my FPS in 1/2 (went from 60 to 30) ... not exactly sure why such a massive hit in performance, but I've turned it off. EDIT: the 337.50 nVidia drivers have different settings for the Prepar3D.exe ... Antialiasing compatibility (DX1x) is not BioShock 2 -- it's 0x00000000. I haven't experimented with NI and 2.2 and 337.50 drivers yet. Cheers, Rob.
April 8, 201412 yr DLL.XML - copy to C:\Users\Rob\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2EXE.XML - copy to C:\Users\Rob\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2scenery.cfg - copy to C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2 And for those using simconnect the simconnect.xml.
April 8, 201412 yr Is it ok to uninstall these folders after applying the 2.2 patch do you know? Yes, but see my response above.
April 8, 201412 yr Installed the patch. No problems. Running with updated ASN and Orbx Global (with the updated libraries). Wow. I have lots of settings turned up and it performs extremely well. I'll probably dial back a tad but it just looks wonderful. LM really nailed it on this one. Very stable. (The new/updated recording feature is pretty cool as well).
April 8, 201412 yr Author It's great to see how well this update is received! Can't wait to see what the future brings.
April 8, 201412 yr Commercial Member Manually go thru your Prepar3D.cfg and edit as needed ... the only things I change are: InfoBrakesEnable=FalseInfoParkingBrakesEnable=FalseInfoPauseEnable=FalseInfoStallEnable=FalseInfoOverspeedEnable=False Did you create and set an Affinity Mask? If so, what would be the correct value for an i5? By the way, this new version screams. It seems significantly faster, smoother, and way more robust than v2.1. I am extremely impressed. Blows FSX away so much that I may just uninstall it. REX AccuSeason Developer REX Simulations
