April 8, 201412 yr Im not seeing gogoo great performance. Specially using the new shadows stuff. But I'm using Rex,ASN and some sophisticated aircraft. VAS is diffidently repaired. No more AG popping and the Blurries seem to be gone. I'm happy, I reckon.
April 8, 201412 yr Did you create and set an Affinity Mask? I'm seeing how it performs with no "tweaking" (hate to use that word) ... so no affinity mask yet. I'm happy, I reckon. It must be the wine ... haha
April 8, 201412 yr Going to pick up P3D V22 this week - now is the timw to start moving away from fsx. One concern thoug: I've always used fsx on one pc and run weather and other utilities from a laptop. Is networking tricky with P3D? Does the manual explain, or must one cruise google to find tutorials. I'm pretty firm at handling the setup of simconnect with fsx, but don't know if the structure is the same with P3D. April 8, 201412 yr What a noticed in the release 2.2 different from my 2.2 beta is the Terrain shadow cast distance ... didn't have this option so never tested it. I typically don't have Terrain shadows enabled ... but I thought I would try this setting in 2.2 release and it cut my FPS in 1/2 (went from 60 to 30) ... not exactly sure why such a massive hit in performance, but I've turned it off. Hmm, this is odd. So now you leave the Enable Terrain to Receive Shadows checked, but keep the terrain slider at zero? Are you seeing cloud shadows? April 8, 201412 yr Having read first comments I think I will consider the transfer from FSX. Now addons compatibility is the major issue, not P3D.
April 8, 201412 yr Having read first comments I think I will consider the transfer from FSX. Now addons compatibility is the major issue, not P3D. Do it I just installed the 2.2 update and wow its a major step forward. As for addons most work with p3dv2 with the exception on some Orbx airports and PMDG stuff. As for the Orbx airports that was due to the objectflow.dll not working with V2 but according to the CEO of Orbx that issue has been solved so Orbx airports should be on their way. I plan on keeping FSX for my airliner flying since I don't feel like buying my 737 and 777 over again for V2. But I moved all my GA flying to V2 when it first came out and I haven't looked back since. ATP MEL,CFI,CFII,MEI. Type Ratings B-737, ERJ-190,ERJ-170
April 8, 201412 yr The patch worked fine with my P3D v2.1 installation and now P3D v2.2 works like it should. Attention has to be given with ASN, not to miss the update, it wont work. Spirit
April 8, 201412 yr Did you delete these directories before running a patched 2.2? %PROGRAMDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2 %LOCALAPPDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2 %APPDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2 %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Prepar3D v2 Files Cheers, Rob. NO I did NOT. Jack J Jackson Castalla, Alicante, Spain
April 8, 201412 yr Hmm... not seeing the great performance others are getting sadly... in fact a drop in frames... stuttering as well... will do some experimenting... i was under the impression that some sliders could be cranked up but seems i have to leave them as they were... April 8, 201412 yr Did you install 2.2 via the patch or the full installer? I did the patch version... i didnt delete all those folders mentioned above though... was too nervous and had already patched the sim before i read it... Ill play with my settings and see what i can do... i9 13900KF @ 5.5Ghz | MoBo MSI PRO Z690-A WiFi | Corsair Vengeance Black RGB RS 64gb DDR4 3200MHz | MSI GeForce RTX 5090 Vanguard SOC 32GB | MP33 Pro 1TB M.2-2280 NVME SSD for OS | Samsung 870 QVO 2.5" 4TB SSD SATA2 | Samsung 990 PRO 2TB | Corsair RM1000X 2021 1300W 80 Plus Gold PSU | Antec Dark Fleet DF700 Flux Gaming Case | Win 11 home | Samsung 65" 4K TV | G512 Keyboard | Razer Basilisk V2 Mouse | WinCtrl URSA MINOR 32 Throttle Metal / 32 PAC Metal | WinCtrl Ursa Minor Sidestick |Velocity One Rudder | MiniCockpit FCU and EFIS | WinCtrl MCDU | Stream Deck XL | Tobii Eye Tracker | Pimax Crystal Light | Doug
April 8, 201412 yr Installed the patch as per instructions, and all working great here. Getting steady 35FPS locked, with settings cranked up a bit up from what I used in V2.1. This update really is absolutely amazing. The immersion just keeps getting better; with the cloud shadows on, flying in and out of sunlight and seeing the change in illumination/ shadowing of the cockpit - Wow. At last some real dull overcast days are possible! Before I always flew with autogen at NORMAL, now with it set at DENSE, VAS is steady, so OOMs goodbye (well for me at least, I do not use photoscenery, and that is the only thing I can think of that may still overload VAS if not used intelligently). And I cannot for the life of me see autogen popping! Loads very smoothly into view. Had one problem as I added my old dll.xml back to get addons going again. I found that the Multicrew Experience FSinsider.dll will caase P3D to crash with an error on startup. Looks like that will have to be updated as well for V2.2. So anyone else who was using MCE, be aware of this potential "fail to start" problem. Rob Robin Harris
April 8, 201412 yr I did the patch as well. Haven't deleted the directories yet. Unfortunately, I get blurries. When I set the affinity mask to all cores via the task managers it is better. Haven't had time to test it extensively, though. Does nobody else have stutters? Maybe it's really better to do a full clean install... Regarding MCE: I already posted over at the MCE support forum. Hopefully, they will fix it quickly. I can't live without my first officer... ;-) [email protected] ∣ Asus ROG Strix B650E-E ∣ 64Gb@6000MT ∣ NVidia 5090 FE
