Actually I heard that Putin is threatening to invade the offices of the new owner if the resulting flight sim (if any) doesn't include the Ukraine as part of the Russian empire.  He has also banned all AI flights to/from that region.

We can not lose anything from someone attempting to revive the series. Worst case scenario: it fails...what have we lost? Nothing. FSX will still work.

I wish this buyer would reopen Fighter Ace for those of us who can't afford expensive new hardware to run combat flight sims that are basically just eye candy.  As long as the flight model is stable and host can tolerate up to say 100 players at a time, that is what is most important.  Super high fidelity graphics is very low on my list of requirements

In the spirit of open and completely uninformed speculation... in one of the comments on the Avsim front-page news story, someone suggested Google as a potential buyer, which is interesting (idea: add a flightsim to Google Earth).

 

Though I have to admit I like the idea of Richard Branson or some other individual eccentric benefactor who wants to throw money at his/her/our hobby.

LOL, nice one. In all seriousness though, I'm referring to being able to use it and not being locked out of it.

Unless I know a lot less than I think I do, which honestly, is probably the case, I can't see this as bad, or as having any impact on what we have no in the negative fashion.

 

LM has ESP...that is theirs. It will not matter in the long run to them.

FSX has been dead. This is the title and franchise name. That is all. They can now fly the name. It would be like Hulu buying the Blockbuster franchise. It doesn't matter....they have the name now. 

 

Nothing will happen to LM,, or FSX. It will still be active in the community, addons, people will still be able to activate it. I don't see the big fuss on the negative side here.

 

Why is it that this forum goes off the damn deepend whenever something like this happens. Look at the whole LM thing. It is almost against the law here now to mention EULA because of the mental retardation that those threads form into. Lets no do it to this one, and just focus on the good. Somebody with the money and motivation wants to keep our hobby alive as much as we do. Whoever bought it wont squander it, all they would have to do is check to see the amount of money this LITTLE hobby brings in and I would be all over it too if I had the means.

 

Lets just focus on the good. Lets not see a "Risk of Closure" tag on this too please.
