MD-80 Project Update

It´s an absolute beauty!

Hope it is as good as it looks - systems vice. Took the old Maddog 2010 for a spin in FSX the other day, and was glad to hear Bettys voice and the stabilizer "drrrrrrdt" sound - even if all the recordings are 22khz sample rate and mono;) Too bad something has happened to the dog in my FSX-install - the VC graphics started acting quite freaky (just a texture mess) after takeoff, so had to abort the flight - after an hour setting everything up etc. Sad, butu still - it´s brillint.

Best regards,

Kristoffer Løkke-Sørensen

  • I fly X-Plane for the scenery and lighting but to be honest the planes in FSX/P3D are of a significantly higher fidelity and less buggy. I can fly a PMDG Boeing or an Aerosoft 'Bus and be fairly sure

This looks gorgeous! The more I see about XPlane - the more I want to buy it. I think I might get it soon.

Sorry...you are too late...I just bought all the copies on the planet....

It's, my Hoarder Syndrome, ....but the doctor says that I am getting better.....

Looks good, but is this a "golden oldie" or will it have FMC with full nav data support?

I believe it has nav-data support. If you'd look on the webpage, there's an FMC with waypoints, etc.

Stunning, thanks for the heads up.

Will there be a single cue FD option?  That's what the ones I flew had.

Jerry, I wish I knew but it is very promising that the pace of the updates has quickened

Here is the feature list they have posted:

Flight characteristics:
Precise flight model, developed with the help of two MD-80 pilots.

Custom systemsThis list includes only those systems that have been/are being developed for the MD-80, that is to say, only the custom systems are listed here. Characteristics of the aircraft that remain as they are in X Plane by default are not listed.

Engines:
Engine starting and ignition system
Thrust reversers
Thrust rating panel

Electrical system:
APU power system with simulated startup logic
AC/DC two buses generating and distribution system
AC/DC loads and x-tie
Battery and bus monitor system
Emergency power system
Ground power

Pneumatic system:
Ground operation pneumatics
In-flight pneumatics
X-feed domain logic and pressure indicator
AC distribution pressure and temperature indicators
AC system with cockpit and cabin temperature controls
Cabin pressure control panel
Auto and manual modes with take off and landing controls

Automatic flight, navigation and FMS:
Improved autopilot with specific modes
Flight mode annunciator
IRS modes
FMS: Flight planing, navigation (with SIDs and STARs), performance management, airplane guidance and flight progress monitoring
Accurate navigation instruments and displays

Hyperrealistic visuals:
Highly detailed 3D cockpit and exterior model, with accurate animations

Custom sounds.

And they say P3D is the way to go lol

That website is just so hard to go to.  Those latest exterior shots have me drooling with that beat up Delta livery.

First time I really took the time to check out the screenshots.
