Maybe because it interferes with the free expression of ideas and information that is a central plank of the EU constitution?

If the European Commission can fine Apple, Google and Microsoft...

Bah. What do I know?

Every relevant tweak I've added to the cfg resulted in various artefacts ingame.  With HIGHMEMFIX all planes were gray without textures, and with affinitymask lots of autogen spikes and stuttering. SO it brings me to a conclusion that FSX:SE is already optimized because it is working best with default cfg.

Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.

Here's an indea:

DLC and freeware addons should integrated side by side.

What I mean by this is payware addons can be distributed as DLC, where as freeware addons can be distributed using steam's workshop system.

for those of you who don't know what workshop is, it's basically a system to help distribute user created content for free. Workshop system has been implemented for Counter Strike: Global Offensive as well as Garry's mod and have been a huge success. All you have to do is browse for content and click the 'subscribe' button and things will automatically download and install.

So Paywhere addons like PMDG, Aerosoft can be sold as DLC, where as Freeware addons like Thomas Ruth's A300 can be distributed in the workshop. Aircraft repaints can also be distributed on the workshop (for both paywere and freeware since they're free).

Addons can be compiled to one specifc file and placed in an 'addons' directory. DTG should make an update that would make FSX:SE support this file type leading to easy download/installs.

What do you guys think? :)

Also for those of you who want to know which addons are working fine, here:

Bingo. Indeed that might be a brilliant business model DTG has in mind to create single addon center for all addons. I guess steam & dtg take their share for it. It might also help the publishers fight piracy.

Yeah exactly! You can have admins on the workshop who can verify addons before they get uploaded, that way fighting piracy is a lot better.

Hello,

have you used any tweak the config? I had read that HIGHMENFIX was already included, but do not see it in the config.

I am not sure if you can install DX10Fixer and how to do it on a system with MS FSX installed. What have you tried? How?

You can use NVInspector with this version?

regards

Nope, as this would leave FSX legacy and P3D users out of the distribution chain.

Also, I'm very much against eliminating the requirement to deal with (installation and other necessary) information contained in Readmes to get an add-on to run.

The HIGHMEMFIX function is now hard-coded into the new re-compiled version of fsx.exe, so no need for that line to appear in FSX.CFG. It was always intended by ACES that HIGHMEMFIX would be hard-coded into the executable - it got left out by mistake.

The DX10 fixer works perfectly with FSX-SE from all reports that I have read.

5 bucks for the HIGHMEMFIX?

Well, I bought it, I downloaded and tried it and I removed it, end of story.

Now back to the regular scheduled program...

I would like to know how those that got the DX10 installed in steam version.  According to Steve's DX10 Scenery support Forum on Avsim, he stated that it was not supported in FSX-SE.

Steve said there is no DX-10 Fixer support for FSX-SE at this time.   http://forum.avsim.net/topic/457989-dx10-fixer-on-fsx-steam-edition/

How well the DX-10 Fixer installs with FSX-SE may depend on if FSX-SE is installed on a system along with the regular FSX, or on a "clean" system, since different FSX/FSX-SE install locations are involved. See post #11 here

Al

If the DX10 fixer does not work in fsx-se that will be a big negative at least for me.  Hope those that have it working with dual install will provide some feedback.

As I post already, DX10 fixer Works with FSX SE.

If SE is installed on a system that does not already have the original FSX, it apparently sets up a standard FSX folder structure for the program itself, as well as putting the config files in the standard locations, which makes add-on installation much easier. It is more complicated if FSX already exists. I'll get a chance to try it out in a couple of days in "dual" mode.
