December 23, 201411 yr Gregg, I'm afraid I've followed your model this season. Haven't purchased a doggone thing after picking up the A2A 182 sometime back. As happened about this time last year, my simming time has dropped close to zero, so that's part of the reason. The other part is that most of the sale stuff has been on things I don't particularly crave, and I'm long past the stage where I buy things just because they're cheap and I might use them occasionally. I have enough planes, for example, that I almost never fly without adding to the list. Scott
December 23, 201411 yr Commercial Member Caught the sales and treated myself to: -A2A C182 -FlightBeam KPHX -FSDT KIAH Probably will wind up grabbing the Razbam Metroliner too, $10 is hard to beat. Kyle Weber (Private Pilot, ASEL; Flight Test Engineer)Check out my repaints and downloads, all right here on AVSIM
December 30, 201411 yr I got Steve's DX10 fixer and all I can say is a big WOWEEEE. P3D is a waste of money when FSX can look this good. I used Steve's personal settings and I have shadows and fabulous graphics. It was so cheap too! Dave Taylor
December 30, 201411 yr I can't complain - I done well this Xmas Philips 40" 4K Monitor, CP Flight 737EL MCP and Philips Fidelio X1 headphones. December 31, 201411 yr That looks like a nice piece of equipment. It's great - just need to convince the bank manager (wife) that the EFIS panel is an essential purchase too! January 1, 201511 yr Happy 2015 to everyone, its great to see all your purchases even if it leaves me a bit envious. As you can see by the few forums I have participated in that due my disability I am forced to fly the PMDG T7 (fantastic aircraft), due to its high level of automation and which I love, but I do know that I would love to be able to fly a GA aircraft and enjoy the surrounding scenery and navigate yourself from VOR to VOR without the help of an FMC. many thanks Patrick Horan aka Patrico
January 1, 201511 yr Author Hi Patrick, I'm not sure what your needs are when it comes to automation due to your disability. A good many GA aircraft are capable of flying fairly automated and complex routes with a GNS. Nearly all of them will fly VOR to VOR but, also, some few that have a Nav1/Nav2 selector give you time to configure the next VOR and fly VOR to VOR in a more simple way (though, there are more buttons to push than when you're using a GNS.) Unfortunately, it is extremely rare (if at all) to see a working VNAV at this point in GA and none of them are capable of CATIII ILS and autoland so when you get down to 200 ft. you have to take over manually. January 1, 201511 yr That's a good one, Gregg. I my opinion you shouldn't buy too much, but concentrate on a few, but quality - then you will not be disappointed. Therefore my favorites come from A2A, RealAir and PMDG. For cold and garden-free December I bought A2A C182 Skylane (wonderful) and yesterday RealAir Beech Turbine V2 (Is there any better and more beautiful twin-engined prop ?) I wish you a very good 2015 ! Ben Ben Rikken, The Netherlands
January 1, 201511 yr VNAV at this point in GA and none of them are capable of CATIII ILS and autoland so when you get down to 200 ft. you have to take over manually. Thanks Gregg and there lies my problem, due to my lack of co-ordination I need autoland capability. many thanks Patrick Horan aka Patrico
January 1, 201511 yr Just added the RealAir Turbine Duke V2... fantastic airplane! Configured it with a Flight1 GTN750 and 650. Attention to detail is amazing, and flying characteristcs are wonderful. If you are on the fence, get a copy of the Flying Guide off the RealAir web site.. 90 pages of good material. I got mine printed at a local Staples store for $15.. ^_^ and read it cover to cover, before taking off.. Prediction: This plane is staying in my hangar. Bert
January 1, 201511 yr Moderator I also took advantage of the various Sales, and picked up: (all for FS9) - Carenado F33 Bonanza & C-210 Centurion - Lionheart Epic LT - An e-Book on the basics of Jet Simming - Bottle of Tin Cup Colorado Whiskey - Bottle of Kahlua White Russian Mix Here's to a safe and prosperous 2015, to everyone here at AVSIM!
