December 23, 201411 yr See tfe following topic http://forum.avsim.net/topic/458260-ms-fsx-vs-dt-fsx-se-the-conclusive-performance-benchmark/ I am wondering as FSX SE has a better VAS management and OOM are way less, if this can't be done for P3D... 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0
December 23, 201411 yr Prepar3d right now cannot be compared to FSX or FSX SE. LM has changed much of how the sim operates coding wise and utilizes different technologies in regards to rendering. P3D can OOM but, I have yet to see the majority of its user base have this issue. The ones which do are pushing the software over their hardware's limits. Tom "I just wanna tell you both: good luck. We're all counting on you."
December 23, 201411 yr Not apples with apples. Add shadows, DX11, tessellation, volumetric fog, etc etc etc and then see how fsx manages vas. If it could only be compared it would be interesting. Will Reynolds Flight Sim Addict

December 23, 201411 yr P3D isnt the same as FSX thats right, including because LM started optimising memory use from early 2.x versions... So the simple answer is P3D already does it... I can make P3D OOM, interestingly enough the easiest way is simply to start a flight and look straight up into the sky, that seems to bring it on really quickly . Any other scenario at all I bet my bottom pound FSX will OOM and P3D wont given a similar add-on load.. Kevin Firth - AMD 9800X3D; Asus Prime X670E; 64Gb Cas30 6000 DDR5; RTX5090; AutoFPS
December 23, 201411 yr Any other scenario at all I bet my bottom pound FSX will OOM and P3D wont given a similar add-on load.. That's a pretty safe bet Kevin, considering : If it could only be compared it would be interesting The beauty of forums is how we can all make claims and statements about the software/hardware that we aren't using, Dave.
December 23, 201411 yr Yes, I don't have SE but I can guarantee that it is much better than FSX and P3D (which I do have)
December 23, 201411 yr Yes, I don't have SE but I can guarantee that it is much better than FSX and P3D (which I do have) That's a tongue in cheek comment, right? There isn't anything fundamentally different in SE over regular FSX is there? December 23, 201411 yr P3D works for me. I am able to do 4 hour flights without sweating at all. I was lucky to get 2 hours in on FSX. You can OOM P3D really quick to if you go on to the aircraft loading page and rapidly click on every single plane in your list if you have a lot. The ding of death starts. It loads all those airplanes in fully and doesn't let it go. December 23, 201411 yr That's a pretty safe bet Kevin, considering : The beauty of forums is how we can all make claims and statements about the software/hardware that we aren't using, Dave. Dave, I do use FSX, I do use P3D, I do use the same addons in each. My comments about OOMs in each are based on practical extensive experience. Note I never claimed or stated anything about FSX SE. Pray enlighten us as to the relevance of your previous post, other than to highlight the fact you failed to properly read or understand mine? December 23, 201411 yr Kevin, The title of this thread is FSX SE has ............. Pray enlighten us what is the point of YOUR post if you are extolling the virtues of P3D over tMicrosoft FSX boxed ...... silly me for thinking you were talking about the product that was the subject of the O.P. Dave.
December 23, 201411 yr The beauty of forums is how we can all make claims and statements about the software/hardware that we aren't using, Dave. This is SO true! Seen so much of this, this week. David Bourne
December 23, 201411 yr Me too thought the Steam version actually had better VAS management, as the title said. Microsoft probably haven't done anything to this product. Brynjar Mauseth
December 23, 201411 yr P3d offers more eye candy , for the pilots that wants to fly outside the window , its really a beautiful sim ,(.but at a cost ) the new fsx se offers to the hard core flyer that fly on Vatsim and with virtual airline the only choice for long distance ,(multipule leg ) Sure you can fly with p3d but you need to monitor VAS save and reload , (not good on Vatsim ) FSX-SE went with stability instead of super high eye candy , it gives us a choice ... i7 4777k 4.6mhz, 32gddr3, GTX 760 4g sci ,Saitek x52,yoke and quadrant, 60 Led . December 23, 201411 yr I didn't fly SE on a long-haul flight when I had it installed, but I haven't hit OOMs on 4+ hour flights in P3D 2.4; MS:FSX would give me issues on the same legs (one thing that seems painfully obvious is how much better the new ORBX sceneries are optimized in comparison to the UK and Ireland).
