English, German, Norwegian-Swedish-Danish (written like that because listing the three individually is somewhat like saying "I speak American, British and Aussie English," though there's a lot more variation between Norwegian, Swedish and Danish...and Norwegian is the primary there), and I'm learning Italian because my family goes there every year.

...and just enough differences to be annoying.

 

Norsk - Jeg heter Kyle.

Dansk - Jeg hedder Kyle. ('hedder' pronounced with a glottal stop...it's pretty, let me tell you)

Svensk - Jag heter Kyle.

 

There are better examples, and several more where they're just completely different, but they're similar enough such that I can usually at least read all three with little issue.

 

And the Norsk that I speak is usually looked down upon (voted "worst dialect in Norway" by NRK - if you watch the video, they start making fun of all the other dialects, going as far as to to call the Oslo dialect "Swedish," which I agree with...at least that's what it sounds like to me).

There's an Irish bar down the road from me and the manager's license plate is PGTHOIN. The DMV here has no idea...

  Growing up its probably the first word every kid learns in Irish.

 

 

Another language I'd love to pick up.

Its a nice language alright but only spoken in very small pockets of the Gaeltacht areas mostly on the western seaboard. The average Irish person would only know bits and pieces of the Language, sad really.

Since retirement, this hobby has become a key part of my mundane daily existence and I want to thank everyone for just being here.  My neighbor just brought me a package of home made Christmas cookies and fruit cake so I am feeling pretty upbeat right now.
