[08JAN15] Updated P3D Development Information

Featured Replies

Gents-

And in other news- we may finally have the 777 for P3D into final testing by this time next week...  <phew>

You have NO idea how happy that makes me...  The P3D transition has taken a ton more effort than we had anticipated- and it will finally be nice to have that avenue open after a couple years of "talk."

You have no idea how happy that makes as an AMD and Win 8.1 user, FSX or FSX:SE doesn't run well at all on my machine (huge vertical spikes) . P3D works so much better and I am been eagerly waiting to purchase an PMDG plane. Hopefully this is the start of a long relationship between P3D and PDMG.

Robert,

Taken from the 777 Introduction document:

Virtual Cockpit position and zoom

Microsoft created an extremely bizarre implementation of “dynamic headmovement” in FSX that cannot be turned off. This system causes the camera’s X, Y, Z position in 3D space to shift depending on set of parameters that shouldn’t play any role in such a feature including the aircraft’s compass heading and physical latitude and longitude on the simulator’s model of the Earth. In addition to this, the effect becomes more extreme the further away the cockpit is from the center of the aircraft’s model. As a result, you are likely to see VC camera viewpoints that do not exactly match what we intended.

This effect is really apparent around Asia and is a massive distraction to taxing or flying the aircraft, has this by any chance been resolved in the P3D version of the 777? Now that the Prepar3D team has access to and develops the code, I'm thinking this is something they could fix?

Thanks

Mark, AVSIM has a P3D forum, with several sub-forums. That might be a better place to dig for P3D information.

The question is specifically about the PMDG 777 in P3D, why would I post a PMDG question in a generic P3D forum?

Thanks

Sure but the dynamic head movement isn't related to PMDG, it happens in all aircraft. It just so happens that it is more apparent in longer aircraft such as the default B747 or the PMDG 77W. So let's wait awhile to see if you get a response from PMDG.

Dan Downs KCRP

Sure the problem is generic, but it affects the PMDG 777 greatly and has a page dedicated to it in the Introduction manual, so it is a known issue which detracts from the task of flying the 777. It's something I'm hoping will be resolved in P3D.

Seems like something inherent to the sim engine, and P3D is still at its core using the FSX engine. I doubt this is fixed, but I could be wrong.

Saad Eldeen Bahloul

Yes it's inherent, but could just be one line of code to turn it off, or even just a .cfg entry. With FSX there is no way to find out, P3D there is.

Can't wait to fly the T7!  Hopefully the final testing phase starts this week.

Grain of salt....taken. Gulp

Great job guys. This will be a huge moment for the flight simming community

I feel sorry for you p3d guys. I can see it now. "help the 777 is making me run oom faster" lol

Good luck guys

Well Gentlemen,

I guess, and that is a purely personal opinion, PMDG is waiting for P3Dv2,5 to be released, as the Capt. stated they where on to some support issues with LM. Hopefully these support issues where/will be solved with v2,5 and PMDG can then release our soo awaited 777.....

As I said - only a speculation on my side....

+ they will release when its ready.....

how ever - must be quite a change in the whole development process to change from a (in terms of development) static FSX platform to three different (FSX:SE, P3D and XP10) dynamic platforms......

kudos to the development team....

kind regards

Just my 2 cent's
