[07FEB15] PMDG 777-200LR/F & 300ER for P3D Released!

Recommended Posts

You must be very impatient waiting to use FS2Crew for this as you asked Bryan the question, and his replies to you and others have indicated pretty soon.probably next week, and it will be a free update. So, why would you want to go the Migration Tool route?

You said it...very impatient.  LOL  :)  If the best thing is to wait, that's what I'll do.  :)

Kevin, after all, Bryan is offering a free update as opposed to paying some Eastern Bloc website, so money saved in your backpocket is money for other items, later. Makes sense, IMHO.

Yep, I know.  I'm not complaining by any means.  Patience just isn't one of my virtues, that's all.  LOL

Ok, will not talk about pricing, but I fear one thing, that after the P3D versions are out, they will get more and more features and bugs corrections, while the FSX version will remain behind. The concept of "move ahead" will force people to buy the P3D version because it will have bugs fixed and more features than the FSX one. For example, the FSX version has a bug in the go around thrust logic, I hope it will be corrected both in the FSX and in the P3D versions, so that they proceed in parallel. I bought the 777 few months ago and for the moment I am ok with it, I don't want to switch to P3D now only because of some more eye candies and later because the FSX version is left behind!

Certainly any existing bugs (that truly are bugs) in the FSX version should be fixed as they become known via ongoing service packs.

As far as NEW features that may become available in the P3D version of PMDG aircraft, that is a different matter. If those new features or capabilities are the result of advances in the basic sim platform itself (i.e. P3D) I'm not sure how those new capabilities could be back-ported to the FSX version.

That's the main reason why so many people have moved to P3D in the first place - because the platform is under continual development - while FSX is not. The FSX platform is frozen in time, and will never advance beyond the point it is at now. For that reason, it seems inevitable that the P3D and FSX versions of PMDG aircraft will increasingly diverge as time goes on - the one platform (P3D) will continue to grow and evolve, while the other (FSX) is static.

Of course, SOME new features, like the beloved weather radar, are the result of advances made by third-party programs (ASN) that run externally to the underlying sim platform - but in general, if users want to have the latest and greatest (in terms of new features in PMDG aircraft), they will need to commit to the platform that is still growing - which means P3D.

Im not too happy about paying again for the same product in P3D BUT!!!!!!

Remember P3D is a developing patform that may go x64 in the future and new features are being added all the time. We got a weather radar when technology permitted it so who knows, maybe an EFB (with the pricing kinks fixed) or the ability to modify the Electronic checklist items. Though my wallet has now a big bandage on it, I see this as an investment in something with potential. Also, having tried P3D, fsx is just not the same, it fees depressing without the shadows and knowing im missing out the innovation at P3D. As for FSX SE, it is fun but remember its only being patched and sold en masse by dovetail to gain customers for their new platform. They're only renting fsx, dont be fooled about them going 64 bit and adding new shadows and stuff. Froogle made a video about all that.

Im glad though that my dreams came true. Back when P3D just came out as V1 and the 777 was announced I said one day we would have a decent sim with shadows, better clouds and maybe even a weather radar. You all laughed at me, even Ryan from PMDG. well who is laughing now!!!

See yer in the skies!!!

Well I am going to purchase 777 for FSX tomorrow. Not because I like 777 and want to fly it. (I like MD-11, 737 and 747 birds much more). I just want to support PMDG and to say thanks for the free 737 FSX:SE compatibility. I am also waiting for the new 747 before I decide to switch to P3D. (That is my favorite plane and I am going to buy it for FSX and if I find it P3D usable for me then I buy it again for that platform.)

I also hope MD-11 will be updated to be able to install on FSX:SE and/or P3D. I know it is a legacy plane for you but for me MD-11 is my lover and I do not want to leave her behind.

Nice to see those small snippets of X-Plane information coming through. I fly exclusively on X-Plane, so I'm looking forward to an X-Plane release of a PMDG simulation.

I just hope that PMDG prioritises X-Plane as highly as it does P3D and FSX:SE - X-Plane is at least as capable as P3D is for professional and training flight simulation, if not more so, which implies that PMDG will hopefully release all of its products with equal quality in X-Plane too. And hopefully the price point is reasonable, too.

ok guys everything you are saying about fsx is not true your are talking about the boxed version you have to remember that dovetail has now recently obtained FSX and will now begin to bring FSX back from the dead they have already said they are going to be doing updates and unlike p3d where you have to download it all the time when they bring a new one out with steam it automatically updates it when it is released they have also stated they are going to be making their own Downloadable Content when they released the product on steam so anytime i read that FSX is dead i dont understand that because in reality its not dovetail had now taken it over.

The information you have regarding DTG's plans for FSX is not accurate.  DTG is making a few minor modifications to FSX in order to make it more compatible and functional in the Steam environment.  Along the way, a few items are being fixed and updated.

According to the last update I received from them, by telephone, they have not yet decided what the future development cycle will look like.

I do have quite a bit of information on what is being considered, but it would be inappropriate for me to share.  Either way- your information above is not accurate- so I just wanted to be certain that was pointed out.

This means two things:

1) Yes- we are all very happy that FSX is getting some care and fixes.  We have been putting a tremendous amount of work into making certain our customers can capitalize on this new lease on life for FSX.

2) P3D is a completely different animal, with an entirely different development agenda....

The version you use should have everything to do with one's personal preferences, with one's budget, with one's likes and dislikes....

Don't let anyone tell you which platform you should or shouldn't use because that decision is ENTIRELY up to you!

At PMDG our ambition is to support folks who use FSX, Xplane or P3D...

All i am trying to say is that someone else has taken over the programming of FSX and to state that it is a dead stick isnt accurate either and if i recall from one of your other posts didnt you say a lot of people on here shouldnt even be on P3D to start with as it is a training tool for people who are becoming pilots and a way for pilots to expand there training outside of the classroom?

Who uses P3D is, at the end of the day- LM's issue.

Thanks PMDG, The triple 7 flies beautifully in P3d 2.4. My frame rates are a bit on the low side (15-18) with the same high P3d  IQ settings that I use for other aircraft, but my hardware setup is not the newest either. That's with running ASN, REX TD 4, GSX, My Traffic 5, TrackIR,  and the full ORBX suite, so I'm not surprised.

I can't wait for the NGX (and a new PC).

People should appreciate the effort that PMDG put in to getting the 777 into P3D in the first place  & that you get a time limited, substantial discount from the original price.

The reason for the pricing is already clearly explained & if you can't understand the explanation given....well that's your problem. IMO the price is fair ;)

Robert, quite so! I am relaxed about your pricing structure, but what wound me up about one of the posts was being told which simulator I should be using! If LM are comfortable licencing it to me, that should be good enough :) I'm not sure that likening one of the world's largest military industrial players to a circus is that clever though? ;) Thanks K
