Does anyone know if FS2Crew will work straight away in P3D too or do we have to wait for an update to that?

Will it even at all? Has Bryan ever confirmed that?

Yes.  I asked him prior to buying Fs2Crew for the T7 in FSX as I knew we'd eventually have the P3D version too.  I believe he said it would be a free update(if required) or may even just work now, I don't know.

amazes me that PMDG even continue to develop

they really must love this stuff

if it were me i would pack up and head out

every time anything good happens there is always someone grumbling about this that or the other thing

this will now lead me to try out P3D

great work guys

Thanks

Jamie-

There are always a few very loud voices for whatever we do in the marketplace.  What you guys don't see is the rest of the marketplace.

So- yes- it does often seem like we spend an unfortunate amount of time dealing with a few loud voices- but the reason we stay and continue to develop is because there really aren't that many of them when you compare it to the size of our market.

Fortunately- we see the big picture, even if it is frustrating at times.

Not for the boxed edition, and no ETA.

Well,

The thing with software licensing is always a interesting one, P3D while having a similar well behaved source code shared with FSX is a platform that has a different use, owner and development team.

It does remind me of a story that happened once to me...

On board the aircraft one day I was looking at an exit signs cover that was being replaced as it was old and yellowish (it was an old Airbus 340 btw), while the engineer was fixing the flimsy piece of plastic back into its housing he told me this cover costs the company about 1000USD.

It was that expensive!

Not because of the material it was made off but who-ever manufactured it got audited, scrutinised and tested that that piece would do its job when required which required a lot of bureaucracy, paperwork, agreements etc. etc.

Same goes for any software license, P3D and PMDG had to struck a deal to work out how they both interact on the application of the add-on software and it's use and while it may sound ridiculous to pay twice for a similar type of product, down to the licence you buy (the only thing you actually buy) it's a complete different product from a legal point of view.

With that, playing with the good old PMDG 777 for 90 bucks on a platform that is alive and coming to 64 bit soon I think it's a bargain!

Warm regards,

Karel

I agree. The most disappointing part for me is not the price itself, but the fact that everyone is getting the same intro price. It's like the money we paid for the FSX version that helped fund the P3D version doesn't even matter.

I think you need to read up on things like licensing etc. It's a brutal world out there!

I'm excited about the fact PMDG will take advantage of P3D's advanced capabilities and features. Especially adding such features as advanced networking and multi-crew. I assume this means shared cockpit?

I realize it is going to cost more, but at least now there is a path forward for more innovative features, and performance growth. FSX is dead end, and it is a real pain for me to keep this old platform running with all the add-ons I have. There is nothing I would like more than to share the cockpit with another crew member.....assuming this is a future feature PMDG will pursue?

My bad, I did not spot that boxed reference. But I read elsewhere that Aerosoft who sold boxed versions were dealing with it or passing the buck. Not quite sure but Aerosoft boxed version owners have also raised this query.

maybe someone can answer this:

Are the installers compatible with every P3D v2 version. (academic, professional,..) or are they limited to academic plattform?

thanks

When are "the coming days" over so we can find out more about the NGX?

Damn people...

If you dont like it vote with your wallets, no one wants to listen to whingers...

You dont go to a car dealer and demand a major discount because you previously brought a 4 cylinder and now want the new 6 clyinder version...

Cop it sweet or move on.
