Saab 340A v1.2 Update Released!

Have a look at 1:55 into it and beyond as he lands...doesn't seem the plane is too sensitive to inputs at all really.
Since you can't have any idea what the weather (wind especially) was in that video, there's no way you can use it to compare your own experiences with the LES Saab.  The real world Saab is not so much sensitive as it is "squirrely" at low speed.

Yes!!  I have been holding off buying this until the 530 was installed. Just ducked over an bought it. Their website does not even mention it yet.

  • I agree - it's like an autostart and a tutorial combined   The LES Saab is one of the best addons on XP

Yes this is true, but there are at least half a dozen or more videos that basically show the same thing as what is being depicted in the video I posted. The lack of sensitivity does seem to be detected both left and right and not just the windward side anyway.

Geez, this plane is tempting me SO much to buy X-Plane as the Saab 340 is my favorite aircraft and we don't have a good one yet in FSX. Unfortunately, I can't justify the cost of XP Global+ The aircraft yet, and I'm afraid that as soon as I set up/get familiar with X-Plane, buy the Saab, then learn how to fly it, the Razbam version for FSX will have been released. If X-Aviation would release it for FSX I'd buy it in a heartbeat..... oh well, one can dream!

Just wondering, does anyone else think that the external modeling of the engines looks off? It's like they're either too big or too high up on the wing, or some combination of the two. If you compare this shot to ryanbatcund's further up in this thread, you can see that the engines look a little lower/smaller on the real thing. This is a very small problem of course, but is there any chance of it being corrected by X-Aviation?

Unless a P3D developer(s) want to do all the necessary conversions, I'm afraid it won't be happening.  Two completely different SDK's.

I hate to admit it, but I held off on this plane until tonight. I was worried about the performance issues reported in the earlier version. I'm so glad I bought it! Performance is fantastic! I can fly around Manhattan (home for me) with smooth frame rates. Not an easy task, as NYC is probably the worst FPS place in all of Flightsimerdom.

I knew it would be good since LES was behind it and the DC3 is amazing, but this plane blows me away with the detail and everything seems to work great!

Congratulations Goran and the LES crew. This is a must have plane for X-plane users and any flight sim enthusiast.

The Saab340A and the Saab340B have different engine configurations, i dont know if this resulted in a slightly different design

No, that's not it. Check out these side views of the 340A and 340B, respectively, and you'll see that there is barely any discernible difference (if anything, the 340B's engines look just a hair larger, but that could be due to the camera angle). No FS model is a perfect representation of the real thing of course, but the engines being too big is rather distracting to me as someone who is very familiar with the look of the Saab 340. I'm not expecting X-Aviation to fix the problem, but it would still be nice if they did!

It's accurate, based on CAD files. I think it's time to drop it. You're beating a horse that's dead, and comparing sim angles to lens distortion in SLR cameras is silly. Every camera angle I look at online (just for fun) makes it look different to my eyes.

We'll trust the real measurements of the CAD.

But we won't.

2 posts, one of which was a reply to a theory someone else had, constitutes beating a dead horse? Whatever you say buddy. If you tell someone to 'drop it' after they make an observation then a follow-up, I'd hate to try and get tech support from your company if I were to buy your product, which I can assure you will never happen now. Razbam will have access to accurate CAD models I'm sure, and perhaps they'll be able to take some constructive criticism!

Welcome to the Internet! I understand your annoyance/anger. Some forums are just not as welcoming as others. I have had posts that included a picture of someone beating a dead horse! Amazing what lengths some people will go to amuse themselves. I would just forget it.

I also understand your issue with the engines. Personally, it does not bother me in the least. But I fly another aircraft (the Twin Otter) where the developer did not put the Seat Belt/No Smoking signs in the main cabin. It annoys the hell out of me - for no good reason. Every time I put the signs on or off, I think "why bother, there are no signs back there".

Anyway, if you can get past some terse comments in this forum, this is a very nice aircraft.

this aircraft is one of the most easy ones for hand flying to me, it feels just right compared to how real aircrafts behave on the air (real ga pilot here, but never on a 340).

something i would like to point out, real aircraft yokes have a lot of travel on the pitch and roll, thus they are very linear and progressive for precise input. Desktop yokes/sticks (Saitek or similar) have not enough travel at all on the axis, as such every tiny movement leads into lot of input for the aircraft resulting in a twitchy experience.

Having a near real life axis travel yoke is key, otherwise setting joystick sensitivities/augmentation properly is mandatory to compensate.

Having just purchased this plane last weekend, I haven't stopped flying it yet except to go to work. Its amazing!  Everything works just as I would expect. I looks fantastic and feel fantastic and the frame rates with it are fabulous!  (something I was worried about)

If you love this plane and want to fly it in a sim, this is the one to get. Its like PMDG quality. The way the checklist takes you to each button to start up the aircraft, blew me away. Outstanding work! I really feel like i'm learning something when I fly this plane. Even opening the cabin door is just as it is in real life.  I can not say enough good things about it,

My 2 cents
