And when the 64 bit version comes out, people will starting loading it with scenery, until it hits the OOM ceiling and then people will be wanting a 128 bit.....

There are enough addons to bring any system to its knees, that means we need to pick and chose which addons to use on any one flight. Simple aircraft more addons, complex aircraft less addons....It's just nice that we have so many great addons to chose from   Would we like to have it all, of course, but probably won't happen anytime soon so enjoy what's out there now!

Me thinks you may see a 20 to 30% improvement with 64 - one will have to weigh that as a reason to buy everything again - hope not maybe they can be converted to 64 not sure about that process

It'll be awhile before we hit the 8 terabyte limit you can rest assured.

Ditto.

A good check in the exe.xml file to see how many instances of stuff is preloaded into the session, can show that half of what's there might be unnecessary for a given flight. Yet, it all gets preloaded unless managed.

So a good place to start to deal with Oom is to manage what is loaded and being mindful of what remaining memory allows.

Having ultimate traffic, takpac, pmdg, and every other thing loaded is not going to leave allot of room for flight from big airports etc.

So, sure, there are limits but more can be done to work through these limits.

Yes but I am talking about all sliders to the right - ai - traffic - never going to see that on 64 and the complaints will continue for sure

I dont "need" all that, 66% sliders is fine.

What I do need is to finish the flight

Amen. P3D looks very good even at medium settings, but you are still on the break for an OOM then.

I see 64-bit as no panacea, just serving to move the bottleneck to elsewhere in an inadequate system, unoptimised hardware, or bloated installation.

What needs changing is the mindset and activity of the user. And that isn't L-M's problem.

OK

So thats enough

no more activity

I see 64-bit as no panacea

That's good because it was never purported to be a panacea, but it does address one giant issue in a very big way, and may open up the door to other benefits.

Combined w/ DirectX 12 optimization, depending on how possible that will be w/ P3D:

'Now we know by how much: just by using DirectX, executives said, you'll see an additional 20 percent improvement in your graphics frame rate, and a drop in CPU utilisation to boot.  On Thursday, Max McMullen, a principal development lead for Microsoft....

McMullen used the same Intel "Asteroids" benchmark in his presentation Wednesday, but demonstrated that the frame rate increased a more modest 20 percent. But the CPU consumption also fell from 25 percent to 9 percent as DirectX 12 asked the GPU to shoulder more of the workload.'

I was going to reply with a really sarcastic comment like 'Yeah! It's like people want progress or something!'

But, I decided against it... ;)

Then why did you post the comment anyway?   B)

It's just that a few people in this thread seem to be almost against seeing a 64Bit version of P3D and looking down their noses at the users coming out with thing like 'well, obviously the users are to blame' and 'ooh we better not give the users to option of more VAS, otherwise they'll just fill it up even more!' it just sounds ridiculous. It's like owning a company and saying 'well, my employees better be happy with the amount of money I'm paying them, I'm not paying them any more because next year they'll want another raise!'

Will a 64Bit version of P3D solve everyones problems? Of course it won't.

Will it be an improvement over what we have now? Have a think about it...

It's

"employees better be happy with the amount of money I'm paying them, I'm not paying them any more because next year they'll want another raise!'"

Hey that sounds familiar - haven't seen one of those in 5 years and I work for a multi billion dollar company and play a major part in Their success - go figure
