Carenado Navajo....bought it.

I hope not, I hope the community continues to have the balls to call out companies that produce sloppy products.  It's less about realism, more about the appearance that they just don't give a ####.

If they produced pretty but simplified products of reasonable build quality, no-one would care.

Yes, call them out if you want. I'm not saying people shouldn't speak their opinion but there is a time and a place. The person who started this thread was simply saying that he purchased the aircraft and was enjoying it, but apparently some people think that is an invitation to start the ranting. I have made some bad purchases from Carenado myself and I am by no means defending them but this is getting out of hand.

Yes but the issue is they're ripping people of with over-priced products that have fallen short. Yes, sell them as is, with terrible FDE's, and other issues, but don't charge $30-40 for them.

Like I said, I bought 10 fs9 at $3-5 each. I'm not complaining because like I said earlier, some of them are simply not worth any more then that.

Ripping people off? Nobody is forcing you to buy a product from a company that has a poor reputation. Pretty much everyone in this forum is aware of Carenado's reputation so if they want to continue to buy $30-$40 aircraft from them then let them. They know the risk associated with buying a Carenado aircraft and they are obviously okay with it. One day I would like to be able to read a thread from a guy who is enjoying an aircraft he paid for without having people come in and start saying how Carenado is the worst FS company and is stealing people's money and should go out of business. You can start your own thread, no need to hijack someone else's.

+1 Samuel.

Some of you here were forced to purchase and then claim "rip off", correct?

Some of you here think that because you have a certain opinion people shouldn't be allowed to declare a different one, right?

Even when it's bashing a long time developer, right?

Even when it has diddly squat with what the original poster was posting about, right?

Even when you know that not a single person in this thread was ripped off, right?

And please don't tell me next about freedom of speech and how you have a right to voice your concerns.

Sounds like you're projecting a little bit, I've got a law degree so I have a pretty thorough understanding of the 1st amendment so you don't have to worry about me going down that road. I just think you'd do well to try to get your blood pressure down a bit, if developers are doing the quality work you seem to think they are I doubt a few people blowing off steam on the internet is going to be that big a deal.

If buyers are doing their quality research, then they wouldn't need to be hijacking threads, and it wouldn't be that big of a deal.

Give it a rest.

Jim is just outlining the obvious.

Start a new topic if you want to outline your concerns about whether Carenado should charge what they charge or if you're not happy with the products they deliver.  Whatever your rant/issue is this is not the topic for it.

Oh geez, every time Carenado releases a new aircraft we are forced to go through this nonsense, if you like the planes buy them, if you don't, don't, pretty simple. I think by now we all know the pros and cons of their aircraft.....

You have to admit, Carenado planes look amazing inside and out. I will say that Carenado, if nothing else, trounces A2A when it come to interior lighting, particularly with the guages. Really wish A2A would improve that.

I was pretty put-off by the $38 price tag and I held off for a whole two days because of it. The pain is subsiding slowly with every flight.

(I still can't figure out what makes it $3 bucks better than the Titan though...)

I'm going to be trolling tomorrow morning......  in the Chesapeake Bay.... for rockfish! Other than flying simulators, THAT is my idea of trolling! LOL!

FYI, I submitted the following list to Carenado Support yesterday and received a response within a couple hours indicating there will be a patch and they will try to implement the fixes.

Hi,

I used to fly the Navajo years ago when I worked for the Piper Dealer in Sacramento, California.
So, I was excited to see your product.  I bought it and I think it has real potential to be one of your best.  However there are a few areas that need attention that would make it closer to the real deal IMO.

1.  Maximum manifold pressure should be 46" instead of 40".
2. Lighting needs attention both inside and outside (Landing Lights, Stobes, Instument Lights)
3. No engine sound change when reducing power until approximately 32" of MAP.
4. The airplane really needs a three axis autopilot with a pre-select altitude mode. .
5.  Flap deflection on the first detent is too far down.  Should be closer to a trail setting (about 10 degrees).  Second detent should be about 20 degrees.  The third detent should be about 30 degrees.
6.  The shaking during startup, and especially shut down, is way too strong.  There really shouldn't be any perceivable shaking if the airplane is in good condition.
7.  I am using the GTN750.  I would like to see the GTN750 bezel with the click spot for a pop-up.

Thank you

Since I'm a real world pilot with time in the Piper Navajo, I can tell you that your wrong. The Carenado Navajo handles a lot like the real thing.

Thank you David.  It's been years since I flew the Navajo, but from what I remeber, the "feel" of this product is pretty close.  It's good to see your confirmation.

I am following this topic to read about the experiences and opinions of people who have actually purchased this product.  It's really informative when a real pilot with experience in the type gives feedback.  The product and developer bashing serves no useful purpose.  We all know the history of Carenado and Alabeo, so there is no need in continuing to beat that horse.

Ugh this thread has derailed just a bit

I actually don't have the plane yet. But I think developers deserve to be paid for their work. If you don't like the price vote with your wallet. High end developers have said this about their own products.

Really I think what is happening is everyone is comparing C to other addons (even though you say you aren't), then adjusting the "fair price" in their head. Maybe C needs to pay royalties, maybe they have other expenses. Maybe they are greedy. I think the complainers are upset they're not able to buy C products anymore for 20 bucks! Well, get over it. Everything costs more today... If I separate my children from my groceries cost, I bet I pay at least double what I did in 2007. It's reasonable to think of C products costing 40 bucks. The models are WAY different compared to their first Mooney, Arrow, Cessna.

C isn't going to change, look at their FB following -tons of people praise their stuff. (Some don't).

Vote with your wallet.
