Actually the day began quite nicely. We had loaned a Catalina from friends in Australia, which we planned to use on our freight runs in PNG. We had also negotiated with some local fishermen our daily quota of fresh fish.

We even were lucky to be able to watch a few dolphins playing around our ship

In short, the day was just purrfect

Eventually though, we knew there was labor to perform and we decided we better do something about it. We couldn’t take off from the channel, where we had anchored, so we had to head out into the open sea

Come on baby, we need to get you into co-operating with me again, otherwise this landing is going to be a horror show. I don’t want to land in water. I can’t work on an engine, while sitting in a small rubber dinghy.

Aaaah, my prayers seem to have worked. I finally managed to coax it back into life. Three minutes, baby! Give me three minutes!! That will be enough, then you can die on me again, no questions asked.
