Prepar3D v3.2 is out !

Featured Replies

I did a full (clean) install to 3.2. However I'm not noticing any shoreline wave animations. Is there a certain slider that I need to play with?

The water slider and the special effects.

Interesting - just performed a completely clean (rebuilt the OS) install for Prepar3D v3.2, and I'm also not seeing any shoreline waves.

I confirmed I installed v3.2,  and then tested with water at High and Ultra, special effects at Medium and High, and scenery density up to Very Dense.... I've also kicked up the winds to see if it was weather dependent. No waves for me.  (shrug)

I'm more interested in some of the other improvements personally, but it's interesting that I'm not seeing this new effect.

Oh well - we'll see how this all pans out.

Depends on severity of weather but not sure as I have not seen much myself - try building storms theme you may notice two shorelines depending on what direction it is and one of them will have waves and the other direction will not - so wind direction probably has something to do with it also

Just checked. I have my Water on Ultra, Special effects on high and no shoreline waves. Not sure what else I'm supposed to be adjusting in order to see them. Can anyone confirm them with a screenshot?

Problem found and solved. I have Ultimate Terrain X installed. They have a menu that allows wave sizes to be chosen as well as turned off. Apparently the default is to turn them off. Fixed. Thanks for the help.

This has turned into disaster for me. After following the instructions for install the client and the scenery and it seems like after the FSUIPC update I cannot get a scenario to load. I get that window that says Prepar3D has stopped working every time. Even after deleting the prepar3d.cfg and shaders and allowing them to rebuild. I am not getting an error log. Can anyone tell me where the error log is saved so that I can post it on the LM forum for help.

Did you also delete the Prepar3d_Default.Fxml?

Dave, try deleting these exact files and see if it works. Anytime I've had an issue from installing and testing addons the past two weeks I've lived with P3D- deleting these three files has always fixed the problem as P3D will rebuild them on next startup.

I did the simple client uninstall/install and can confirm waves around PHKO, water medium, effects medium. Nothing to get excited about...but there are waves. Meanwhile, the update so far is quiet noticeable, AA is much improved (I shut off NI which had 2xSGSS). 4X MSAA, so far, is all that is needed, as Rob has suggested. Running great right now, albeit w/o ASN.

I can confirm there are waves even at medium water settings. The waves are dependent on wind speed (check your surface winds in advanced weather settings / winds tab) wind direction (you want the surface winds blowing towards the shore obviously) and shoreline type.

Dave, if you're running Windows 10, right click on the start button and click Event Viewer. Then click Windows Logs and then Application.

If you're running any FSDT airports, you may be getting a bglmanx.dll error. Just download and install the latest FSDT addon manager.

Good luck.

Check your DLL.XML And EXE.XML entries and disable anything currently not support V3.2 (i.e. ASN, ObjectFlow, etc.)

Get the latest Virtuali update.

Get latest FSUIPC.

Don't know if SODE v1.2 or v1.3 works, haven't tested that yet.

Cheers, Rob.

Hi: I install version 3.2 and my performance decreases from 30 fps to 12 fps with exactly the same settings to version 3.1, what happened?, It is supposed to increase the performace

I can confirm there are waves even at medium water settings.

After a bit of testing, beach coastlines look to be the key here.

I've kicked up 10-20-40 knot onshore winds flying out of KWST, and no wave animations whatsoever in that area. The shoreline is depicted a bit incorrectly (in the default scenery) and it's a "rough" coastline in the sim, not a beach coastline.

Using the same weather with onshore southerlies, I can fly out of default KVPS or KPNS and yes, indeed there are breakers crashing over the barrier beachfront coastline where the water is light blue and shallow. Testing further north, I took a quick hop around Cape Cod, and indeed there are waves crashing on the shorelines classified as beaches - on the other shorelines, not so much.

It would appear that waves are currently coded to only splash on beachfront properties.

The mystery seems solved - at least for me, anyway...

Cheers,

-Greg
