I am a retired T7 driver. Unfortunately realworld flying wasn't too good for me healthwise.

 

Can't get enough of flight simming, though ;)

I am an Air Force Chaplain (Active Duty) and during my career have been fortunate to ride in a variety of airframes. B52, C130, F16B, KC 135, Lear, Hueys and a few other interesting AC

Well for the past months my "day job" has been taking care of me and my spouses little baby boy. Best months of my life! I am, however, looking forward to return to my "real" job as an Endodontist.  It'll be nice to see my colleagues and students again.

Yikes! Endondonist, huh. Well, someone's gotta do it :mad:   Seriously, I've had my share of root canals and I sure felt a lot better afterward...

Mike, What stations were you? I was an AP for USAir / US Airways at LAX / BWI / CLT, working 727,737-200/300/400, 757,767, A319/320/321, F28, F100.

          I remember you from the forums a few years ago. I was in Cleveland for 24 years and spent the last (almost) 13 here in DFW. When you were in CLT did you know Scott Metzger? I see you mentioned the F100. I never thought I'd see an airplane that would make the F100 look good until we got the Embaer 190's. The most brutal aircraft I've ever worked from the fleet service side.

I knew an older fella by that name that worked airline maintenance at RDU for TacAir. He was a pilot a long time ago at American before becoming an A&P and worked at a few airports including CLT. Maybe the same guy?

Until recently I was a configuration management engineer in the helicopter industry.

Recently started a new job in certification, still in the H/C industry.

I worked in Fleet Service. We're the guys who load the planes. The 190's were not built to be a mainline airplane. They are really just a large commuter jet. The forward cargo bin is very long and narrow with a low ceiling. Trying to stack luggage in that thing was like a deathwish. We used to call it the flying occupational injury. The Embraers 170/175/190 were terrible when they first came online. The computer systems would crash regularly, requiring a reboot. We called them POS 180's. POS... piece of sh**, 180 referred to you pushing it back and it doing a 180 and returning to the gate with a mechanical.

When you were in CLT did you know Scott Metzger?

 

Yes, I remember Scott. I did not know him well, but the name is very familiar. Charlotte is a big place, but I worked all over there. I started Charlotte in the main O/H hanger, then moved to the line hangar, then the drop in line shack, then over to work the A, C, and D cons at the gates. I'm sure that we crossed paths in there someplace.
