July 7, 20169 yr Author Moderator At least there is a free trial! Yes, but to clarify some confusion - AS16 has a free trial - the ASCA graphics do not for technical reasons. Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
July 7, 20169 yr Hmmm prices are out. Seems everyone is taking advantage of P3D to increase them just a bit more, something i really don't like to see... Why is P3D's version $10 more expensive? I normally agree with this criticism, but for apps like ActiveSky, every time a new P3d version is released, a new build is required and credit due its produced pretty rapidly, for that I dont mind as I want to see both products evolve and recognise the workload/differential so am happy to pay a bit more in recognition
July 7, 20169 yr Well....I think $40 (upgrade pricing) is well worth it for what we get from the HiFi team. As mentioned above by 'kand', they are always releasing new builds and support is great. I've been using their products since the early 2000's and this is the best WX product around. I've spent more on aircraft I used once or twice.....this is a no-brainer immediate buy for me!! July 7, 20169 yr Author Moderator I've spent more on aircraft I used once or twice..... Agreed! In the last month alone, I've purchased $120 USD worth of a/c and found afterwards that I didn't like them so they sit on my storage drive. July 7, 20169 yr Moderator the ASCA graphics do not for technical reasons. Technical reasons? I doubt there is a technical reason that there is no free demo of ASCA. I would bet that there is no free trial of it because people could install all the texture sets one at a time, make copies of the textures, install the next set and repeat. Once they have all the copies of the textures they could then just uninstall the software and never buy it. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

July 8, 20169 yr Hi Diana, I appreciate your reaching out to forum members for their feedback and constructive criticism on the two upcoming products AS2016 and ASCA. Personally, I wish a more pronounced focus on creating realistic sky colors at all altitudes and day times by ASCA. For example, let's look at the following product image that you have posted: The colors might look "dramatic" here and appeal to some simmers, but to be honest, I have never, ever seen such colorization of skies in the real world. While the "yellowish orange" might look OK on the left side, the top-right side is too dark and "black" in my opinion. I remember that this problem persisted with some textures offered in AS2012. And even when sunset sky colors looked more realistic, I had instances where the sky literally started looking like mud half an hour later, which was an immersion killer. Here are some examples taken from the real world on how the sky colors should look like during a sunset: As you can see, the sky retains a blueish complexion until the night sets in. Too often I have seen screenshots of FSX/P3D with absolute unrealistic fantasy colors, such as this one: I hope that this advice will be taken for the benefit of the quality of your product.
