July 29, 20169 yr Heads up guys - I did not know this posted by John You will need to download the entire new openLC NA to replace your existing AK/Canada installation So Rich, do you delete or remove that folder within your Orbx folder, or just fire off the new installer for the whole region?
July 29, 20169 yr So Rich, do you delete or remove that folder within your Orbx folder, or just fire off the new installer for the whole region? You would have to uninstall it first never write over the old - now with that said at one point there was a nice tidy uninstaller in FTXCentral now I am not seeing it so may have to remove it the old hack way - going to post at orbx to see whats going on Rich Sennett

July 30, 20169 yr Author Thanks but no way I will be installing it over - always do clean installs here Did you perform the file migration, which includes the new post-migration unified LCLookup file? My concern would be that trying to "prune out" the original Alaska/Canada LC by hand (post migration) might do more harm than good. Doing so could have unintended consequences, as substantial changes were made to the entire ORBX file system by the migration. Surely a substantial number of those who will be purchasing the new full NA landclass, already have the Alaska/Canada product, and the new installer undoubtedly takes that into account. I'm inclined to simply install over the original files, since that is the specific recommendation of ORBX. July 30, 20169 yr Just Yesterday: 1. - Did a complete P3D, P3D_Addons & ORBX folders & entries backup with the previous library. 2. - Then I Installed the newest libraries (partial backup) 2a.- Did the migration, (again full backup) Ran Winmerge and compared all (supposedly my P3D setup has >340,000 files). A gazillion files were changed, added and removed. (dds, bmp, agn, spb, etc) Did a couple flights and textures seem OK, but VAS definitely increased after migration. (Test flight from CYBL-CYXX, at least 300K more VAS used and FR drop over Abbotsford) Now have 2 full working copies, so I'm ready for whatever the incoming NA package installer requires. If it does not require the migration I will test with both setups and see which one works best for me and other addons I have for NA (UTX & airports) Cheers. Ramón. Time, is the one thing no one can buy.
July 30, 20169 yr Yes I have full migration no problems - I will install over but still wondering why there was an uninstaller and now its missing in ftxcentral - they must have removed it in the last central fix I guess and no need for a new install of P3D not my first rodeo thats for sure Rich Sennett
July 30, 20169 yr Sure you will. UTX will run on top of Orbx LC. I have it running now, and you will get the roads (superior to Orbx Vector) that have traffic running 180 degress to their progress...as in real life, etc...and this will over the great Landclass that will have things where they should be. UTX gives you the roads, bridges, coastlines, some LC, that you can turn off within the tweak program, I keep the land portion off, but the water bodies as on. I have UTX over Alaska/Canada, and it looks great! Ses Question, as I have UTX and plan on getting OpenLC NA to go with FTXG. I understand you would uncheck most of the landlcass options in UTX, but what about all of the 'Other Terrain Features' such as golf courses, parks, etc. Would these things be included with the new ORBX LC or do you still have these enabled?? July 31, 20169 yr If there is, and is indeed substantial, I may be interested. Thanks for the heads up. Although if I did buy this, it would mark a good 8 months since I've spent any money on any ORBX products. The time-consuming routine involved with re-installing the staggering amount of software I own from them is one of the reasons why I don't use a MSFS based sim for my primary any longer - I can't handle flying in default scenery, and I can't put up with the agony of reinstalling So. Many. Products. That, and FTX Vector made me slightly bitter. I've read that they are moving to their own e-commerce store; my main wish (and this would make me a supportive FTX customer once again) is that they develop a method of centralized one-click download/install for each product that you happen to own. As in, "Open FTX Central, browse a list of products you own, click to install, go have a coffee (or beer, depending on preference and time of day), come back, fly." I asked JV about that at Flightsimcon and it sounds exactly like what you will be able to do. You will also be able to move your previous purchases from FSS to this new platform too so it will be super easy. Steve McNitt

July 31, 20169 yr Looks like you wont be seeing this until Monday as they are not open until 9:00am Monday Australia time That's not necessarily true, depending where you are in the world. 9:00 am Monday in Sydney is 4:00 pm Sunday Pacific time. Do your own conversions. Stew "Different dog, different fleas"
July 31, 20169 yr Author Looks like you wont be seeing this until Monday as they are not open until 9:00am Monday Australia time That would be 7:00 PM this evening (Sunday) here on the US East Coast - might still be a chance! Or... it could be later in the week. I'm sure that FTX wants to be absolutely sure there are no last-minute problems in the installers before releasing them into the world. July 31, 20169 yr Thanks guys, I have Alaska and Canada and love it, but I haven't yet upgraded to lclookup FTX Central yet so that's good to know! You really need to upgrade to the new Central. I find it to be the greatest thing since sliced bread. It is really a problem solver. It auto checks for upgrades every time you open it and you no longer have to switch regions. Dale
